hi! it's been a couple days...but i'm back! i want to return with my thoughts on some of the ships/pairings in c students! do remember, these are just my opinions! you don't have to agree or disagree. i will mention some of my headcanons in this post, so be aware!
might be a bit basic, but it's a classic! i really do love this ship. i think what made me like them more was their relationship displayed in the "creative types" music video. i also think it's cute when you can see Penny visibly blush when August calls her a "smart girl." overall, i like this ship. it's cute, and i like the dynamic!
i also like this ship! i dub them as "pennycole" since i haven't seen anyone come up with a pairing name yet. can you tell i really like Penny? i'd like to think they'd work out, but i'm not sure that Penny has requited feelings for Nicole. i do headcanon Penny as bisexual so i can see her being bi curious before she comes with terms with her sexuality. i think their color palette is very amusing. with Penny being the new girl, i think Nicole gives her life advice, and i think despite Nicole coming off as cold, she really warms up to Penny eventually. side note. Nicole sounds oddly alike to nickel. Penny and Nicole both have names relating to currency. just a neat detail i noticed.
i know this one is popular! (not really, the c students fandom is nearly non-existent. this is just based on what i've seen). even though this pairing is a fan favorite, i don't really see it. i see them more as friends. friends who, despite their difference they hang out regularly and are good friends. i imagine these two were friends since middle school and have watched each other grow up. i imagine they'd still keep in contact after high school. August takes notice of how Kevin has changed as a person, and he finds that admirable. i have a headcanon that August still has not learned how to drive a vehicle yet, and we know Kevin presumably has a drivers license, so i'd like to think that they have road trips together. i think they are the kind of friends where after high school, they don't see each other every day, but when they do, they always have a good time.
there's not much i have to say about this one without mentioning "creative types," and i think my thoughts are self-explanatory. you'd be surprised to hear that a select FEW does ship this pairing romantically. Nicole is a lesbian, so i definitely don't see them anything more other than acquaintances. that is, until after high school. the scene they shared together in "creative types" is the reason i like to think that they are good friends now. the scene where she pushes him out of the way of a truck after Kevin attempts su!cide is such a vulnerable moment for Kevin. it's very bittersweet and emotional. it's crazy how you can go from hating someone to saving their life someday. Kevin will forever be grateful for what Nicole did for him that night, and Nicole will never forget it. she will never forget watching someone she knew as a ditsy dork in high school decide to act out on something to that extent. i imagine Nicole helped Kevin with his mental health issues and get him the help he needed.
i don't see much people talk about them, and i get that. Scarlett and especially Drew don't get much screen time. the reason i like this pairing is solely because of "creative types." we know Scarlett's relationship with her father isn't strong. we can see in "creative types" that she starts to reflect on an instance when she was ignored by her father as a child after she tried to show him a drawing she made. i definitely think that she was neglected by her father as a child, and i have a headcanon that she did not have a motherly figure present in her life which further influenced her bad behavior later in life. i like to imagine that Drew had a similar childhood, just in different ways. the scene where we can see Drew asleep on the bench, and Scarlett leaves some cash onto his sketchbook is just. such a good moment between them. later on, we get to see Drew gift her the drawing he made and place it right on her apartment door. i like to think that they are together in a romantic relationship and that they draw together.
