I know this tournament has finished but I've just come across Sufjan Stevens and he has some really good artistic album covers (imo). I just searched this blog and only one of them was nominated! And it didn't get past round one! I am surprised.

Aww that's very sweet. I miss everyone here too. I'm still (somewhat) active on the other tournament if anyone wants to come over that way. We're still in the submission phase and it's a much smaller crew (so far anyway lol) and much slower paced than this one. I know the cover song theme isn't for everyone but I'm enjoying seeing all the songs sent in so far so come check it out @bestcoversong :)

Please include the original artist just for clarification purposes as they will be named in the poll. If not added I will delete the submission

Please don't name an all covers album without listing the songs included

The ask box will be open from Monday to Friday and closed on the weekend so I can assess how many songs there are and how many more we need

I've not decided how many songs to include in the tournament yet. That will be determined by how much interest there is from submitters.

Polls will be cover song vs cover song chosen randomly. The original will not be taken into account.

Yes I know a submission form would be "better" but I like doing things out in the open so to speak.

This tournament may have longer breaks in between rounds than the previous tournament. Life/family things will be occurring in April and I'll likely not be on Tumblr much but we'll see.

If I deem a song not a straight cover I will delete the submission. If confused by what a cover song is an example is I Fought the Law. A song originally by The Crickets but made popular by The Bobby Fuller Four and The Clash among others. An example of a song that is NOT a cover is Paper Planes by M.I.A. which simply uses a sample of The Clash song Straight to Hell.

Hi there! The Mod from @bestboxart here, and I actually ended up listening to City of Syrup thanks to this tournament. I'm about halfway through at time of writing, and I'm enjoying it! Kinda like a laid-back, low-budget, more genuine precursor of the 2000s top 40 rap sound, and reminiscent of some of the songs featured in Midnight Club 3, too.

I don't think I ever would've run into that album without this tournament coming across my feed, so thanks!

Hello bb you asked how we were all doing so I wanted to drop a line. I'm the anon running the hotforalbumart blog (thank you for plugging! Got off to a great start bc of you mwa ♡) and having a great time all around. I love that Dirty Computer won. Well deserved, both a gorgeous cover and also just a gorgeous artist. The sapphics win again!!!! Would reccomend listening to the album for anyone who isn't familiar with Janelle, you're in for a treat. (Also loving that apparently DC and DGTYM were submitted by two friends? Hell yeah, guys). I haven't yet perused any new music from the tournament, but Ive been saving covers for when it's all over as a treat. So keen to discover some new music over the next few weeks! 🔥

You asked how we’re all doing, and because I’m so excited I wanted to tell you (and everyone else) that I am doing GREAT because my boyfriend and I picked out my engagement ring yesterday!!!!

No purchases or proposals have been made but this is step two in that direction (step one was of course deciding we wanted to marry each other) and I’m just so happy that I want everyone to know

Albums I've looked into because of this tournament: The Amulet by Circa Survive doesn't knock my socks off like the cover did, but DENIAL IS A RIVER from Doechii's Alligator Bites Never Heal is something I can highly recommend to strangers.
