jaehee’s stuck. it’s hard to catch in the view of the paparazzi’s meddling lens, what with them arriving as a picture perfect family—eomma on one hand and appa on another, oppa— well, he’ll come later. but believe her when she says that while they paint an image so sweet, it’s all a lie. because the paparazzi are a pesky group of people, only seeing—and reporting (!)—what’s on the surface, but they always fail to capture the meat of the matter. like how they’ve bastardised her failed relationship with yesung—he was the dramatic asshole, not her—or her fleeting flirtationship with kihyung—how was she supposed to know he only wanted to fuck? but of course, blame the girl. she’s always the vixen, she’s always the instigator, she’s never the victim. like how appa is digging his fingers into her waist, and how eomma is sinking her manicured nails into jaehee’s tender arm? no, clearly nothing to see here, so says the paparazzi.
but the point is she’s stuck. her parents as the yucky, muddy tiled walls, the rusted prison bars, and that tiny, dirty bed all the same. catch her drift? as the saying goes, jaehee’s stuck between a rock and a yard race. a yard… lace… —the point is she’s stuck stuck. and appa is not letting her go anywhere, not with her stupid drama with yesung hung up for all to point and laugh.
“oppa!”
and here comes later. see, let it be known that jaehee’s wandering eyes always goes where jaehoon goes, so it’s no surprise that she catches him almost the moment he arrives. she puts her idol training to good use—that is, she channels all the little techniques she’s learnt to properly dance in heels, and here, she runs. yanks her being away from eomma and appa and runs in them.
“oppa oppa oppa—” she curls her manicured fingers around his arm, pays him a pleading look, “you need to help me. appa is going nuts. he’s, like, totally violating all my rights as a human and he’s gonna jail me.” and once she’s let it somewhat out, she acknowledges now the scene she might be causing, eyes darting left, right, and all around her even as she locks jaehoon’s arm in her fists. jaehee drags him around a nondescript, relatively secluded corner and continues, “like how was i supposed to know the paparazzi were following me? yesung wasn’t even worth it… ugh.”
…and now it’s all out. there’s the tension leaving her body, characterised by the three-step dropping of her shoulders, head looking up in defeat, and a loud sigh. but she doesn’t let herself get too comfortable, realises now the dangers of doing so in a job like hers, so she’s back to grabbing his arm and pleading, “oppa, you’ll help me right? just talk to appa, you know he listens to you.”
and what’s that? something about puppy eyes to put shrek’s puss in boots to shame? yep.
