Idk if this is a New England thing or a USA thing or just a universal thing, but there comes a point in every young New Englander’s education where you get to learn about That One Thing Your Town Made in the 1800s.

And sometimes you live in something cool like “Shovel town” or “Textile town” and sometimes its something like “Straw Hat town” or “Rock town”

Who’s Spending Christmas in Connecticut?! 🙌🏼

Here’s what I plan to do while I’m home for the holidays:

Throw my cast net off the shore of Hammonasset Beach (I’m still living off the high of catching shrimp and pufferfish by the jetty last summer)

Order pizza from Domenic’s & Vinnie’s (locations in Waterbury, Middlebury, and Southington)

Walk downtown Mystic, Essex, Litchfield to see the lights and decor

Shop at Ocean State Job Lot (I miss you so much job lot 😔)

Hike - not sure where yet, probably something low key because it’s cold like Castle Craig, Sleeping Giant, Talcott Mountain, Bluff Point

Visit The Book Barn (the downtown location because I’m looking for horror, sci-fi, & fantasy)

New England Warming Faster than most places on Earth
