INTERVIEWER: ‘Cause you were always the man [in Split Enz] who stayed away from anything dramatic in the hair department

NEIL FINN: I did… I did. Yeah, I never coloured my hair with Split Enz because I figured that as for a band that is known for their hair, changing my hair colour was a bit silly. But as soon as the band finished, I thought “oh I’m a new man now and a new band, new era, new year, I might as well do something radical” so I changed it… it’s just growing out now.
