Klaus and Evelyn || Just a dart away!

Klaus shuffled his way into the shop, it was as elegant inside as it was outside. He was curious as to whether they carried perfume, If he could understand what the high priced brands used, maybe it could make his own perfume more successful, and therefore sellable.

As he walked, a piece caught his eye. He could tell it was supposed to be a dress, but it wasn’t like anything he’d seen. He was impressed by the creativity, and the work, the seams were tiny and fantastically matching to the fabric.

“Uh, excuse me, who’s the designer for this piece?” Klaus always liked to be well dressed, but he’d never really taken a look into it until now. He called the attention of a lady, unusually dressed as the piece he was examining. “Its quite interesting!”

Between all of the businesses Evelyn had her hands in, it felt like her time at the tailor shop was just dwindling. That didn’t mean that she was slacking with her craft. She had been more productive than ever, considering her lack of sleep and inspiration from her various adventures. Today, she was merely putting up some outfits she had thrown together at home, making sure the displays looked perfect. 

Just as she was adjusting the skirt on a display, she heard the door open. Evelyn perked up. A customer? Seemed like ages since she had one! She quickly finished up and began heading towards the front, where a taller man was now standing, admiring one of her dresses.

“Hey there,” Evelyn greeted politely, “That’s one of my own designs! Thank you. This one took a while to make, but it turned out alright in the end. So what brings you in here, sir?”

“Oh well, I was wondering if you had any perfume in stock... It’s higher class than your average store so I was curious.” He gave her a faint smile as he looked across the store leisurely. “I’m interested in perfuming and was just wondering if I could take a look at what's popular.” He couldn't see anything but clothes from where he was, but there was always hope.

“ Although I’ll be honest, I’m rather taken by your design work... In a good way I mean.” He awkwardly chuckled, hoping he hadn’t offended.

Another piece took his eye. Sequins. Far too gaudy for Klaus’s taste, but it still looked impressive. The exploration of 3D shapes within the design removed all functionality but gave an impression.  “You have quite the eye, Miss?”

“Yeah… Yeah there is… I don’t think you really know how bad it is for you unless you stop you know? That’s when you start to notice the smell and such.” Klaus mused, before taking another drag.

Klaus shook his head. “I don’t think it is… It’s probably that I’m just new here is all.” Klaus shrugged and took another drag. He nodded along as the Korean spoke. “I’ll be honest I’ve never been into anything new, most of what I own is all on vinyl. But live music is always good! I’ll have to, I haven’t been to anything like that since my mid twenties. It should be fun. Which restaurant is it?”

“Tell me about it! Weakens the palate, too. As a chef, I really should know better, but… I dunno what it is. It just relaxes me, you know?” he took another drag himself, wondering why he always did things like this, that he knew were bad for him. It wasn’t like Umma was there to scold him anymore. Or anyone else who cared enough to, for that matter. 

“Ah, so you’re still getting used to the place. It’s always hard to sleep someone new for the first while. I definitely can relate.” after all, Umma moved around constantly growing up. It had made it hard for him to really connect with people, since he was never around long enough. “Hey, records are the shit! You can’t beat the feel of’em.”

An idea suddenly occurred to him, and a grin slowly crossed his face again. Alcohol had always made it easier for him to say what was on his mind, and this was no exception. “Hey, if you have some time, why don’t I show ya? We aren’t far from the diner anyhow, and it isn’t like I have anyone waiting for me at home. Well, apart from Eddie, but…” he shrugged. It wasn’t like Eddie cared much if he was home or not.

“... Show me the Diner?” Klaus paused for a thought and debated it in his head. He had to be up in the morning for work... but this was probably the first friend he’d make on the island and he didn't want to drop that now. “..Go on then, lets go.”

He was having fun with the stranger, worst case scenario he got a hangover during work. He dropped the end of his cigarette and let it fall onto the floor. “Don't suppose you’d have any more alcohol there?”

“…Bugger.” Klaus took a cig from the packet Kai offered him. “Thanks.” He quickly lit up and took a deep drag, memory kicking back in. “Though if I start smoking again, I’m blaming you.” The comment was laced with a smirk. There was something youthful about split second decisions. It was rather fun.

“Oh.. I was just out for a walk really.. There’s not much else to do when you can’t sleep at this time of night!… What kind of music do you play?” Klaus wasn’t sure what most people listened to now’er days. He did partake in listening to the few songs and records his Aunt had left him. If the drunk was willing to talk to him, he might as well try and make a friend after all!

Kai couldn’t help but laugh. It wouldn’t be the first time he had gotten someone smoking again, although he hoped that wouldn’t happen in this case. Hell, he didn’t want to be smoking again himself. “Fair enough! They’re disgusting, but there’s something so soothing about them, you know?” 

“Insomnia?” Kai definitely could relate. Without booze or a good lay, he often found himself barely sleeping. Lately, that was far too often than he cared to think about. “Oh, I play all kinds! Whatever has a good beat, since I’m a drummer and all.” he couldn’t help but grin at the thought, wondering when he would get around to another open mic night. Soon, he hoped. “Do you like music at all? I’ve only hosted one open mic night, but I’m planning to again sometime soon. You should come check it out.”

Fair Warning - Open

Raven wasn’t one to talk to strangers on the street. She was smart enough to know not to trust any of them. She’d learn her lesson time after time, recalling incidents in the past where she’d been scammed or robbed. But this time, she couldn’t help it. Once the bypasser crossed her field of vision, she felt almost obligated to point it out.

“Find a better weapon,” she frowned, tilting her chin towards the object in question. “You’re practically defenseless.“

“I-I’m sorry?!” Klaus was rather taken aback by the girls sudden outburst. “.. It’s not meant to be a weapon... It’s just an umbrella.... Why on earth would I need one?!” He was just so confused. He was just walking home from work.

“.... Why don’t you have a weapon?”

“No, I don’t think you did..” He looked down and checked his coat quickly, There was just a slight speckle of grey on his jacket, it would brush off at least. It wasn’t like he’d burnt a hole, he was lucky really. Then Klaus would have had a problem.

Klaus smiled as the man gave him his lighter back. “No, no I completely understand, I quit in my early 20s and I still get the craving now and again.” He chuckled and placed it back into his pocket. “It sticks with you terribly.”

Klaus took the mans hand and firmly shook it. “I’m Klaus, lovely to meet you.” The man was only slightly dishevelled, not too much that he would question his character. Kai was rather pleasant at least. He wondered what he was like sober, perhaps less so or maybe more. It was nice to finally meet someone properly. “What’re you doing out so late, especially on your own in this state?”

“That’s a relief!”

The Korean gave a light sigh before the smile returned to his face. He had been stressing out a lot these days, and having someone to talk to was actually kinda nice. Well, someone that wasn’t an employee or customer. 

“You used to smoke, too? Did you want one?” he fumbled for the pack and nearly dropped it, but luckily managed to catch it before it got too far. He held it up and wiggled his eyebrows playfully. He had always been the type to tempt others with one thing or another, even if it did often get him into trouble.

As he gave Klaus’ hand a firm shake, he couldn’t help but chuckle once again. He tended to lose track of time, but now that it was mentioned, he casually glanced up at the starry sky. What time was it anyway? 

“I spent some time playing music after I closed up the diner I run. Lost track of time.” he shrugged, looking rather sheepish yet again. Obviously he had lost track of how many shots of soju he’d been drinking as well. “What about you? What brings you out in the middle of the night? Stargazing?”

Klaus shuddered as he felt someone knock into his shoulder. He recognised the smell of alcohol and tobacco on the man. “Don’t worry about it… Are you alright?” The gentleman seemed to have a wobble in his step, only slightly. Klaus waited until they were steady on their feet to start moving, until he looked at him properly.

He noticed the cigarette in the mans mouth, unlit. The hot ash must have dropped out when they knocked into each other. “Uh here… Your cigs gone out.” He reached into his pocket for his zippo and offered it to him, a friendly smile on his face.

They hadn’t been aggressive at all, He assumed he was fine to get it back.

Kai felt relief wash over him the moment he got a look at the gentleman he’d walked into. He had never seen him before, but he was older, distinguished - and most important of all, not angry. 

Rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, he offered a lopsided grin, still feeling mighty embarrassed. Maybe he’d drank more than he realized. It wouldn’t be the first time. 

“Ya, I’m fine. I didn’t get any ash on your coat or anything, did I?” 

Speaking of, his newfound friend happened to have a lighter on him! Kai could have kissed him out of sheer happiness, had he known the guy better. Still, he couldn’t help but think he had gotten lucky, running into someone nice. 

“Oh, thanks!” he accepted the zippo and rather quickly relit what was left of the cigarette before handing it back. “A disgusting habit, I know. I had quit for so long, and then stress hit me, and bam!” he laughed it off with an awkward shrug before suddenly holding out his hand. Least he could do was introduce himself, where were his manners? Back with the bottle, perhaps. “I’m Kai, by the way. It’s nice to meet you, although I’m sure I seem like a bit of a wreck right now. I promise I’m not always like this.”

Kai couldn’t believe he was leaving so late again. Despite the holiday being over, he still had a case of the blues, and had decided to take some time to bang out his frustration on his drums while he sipped at a bottle of soju. 

He really had to stop doing this sort of thing. Umma would definitely give him shit if she found out.

“Aish…”

As he strode through the night air, he shivered lightly, trying to shield the cigarette dangling from his mouth. He had been smoking more lately, too. After quitting for so long, the damn habit seemed to have caught back up with him, and he sighed out a plume of smoke, his violet eyes turning skyward. 

He really hated holidays. It was like he had an Easter hangover or something and he couldn’t quite shake it - so instead, he was giving himself actual hangovers. 

Not that he was drunk at the moment, more on the tipsy side, but still inebriated enough that he wasn’t walking totally straight. As such, despite his best intentions to move out of the way, he ended up miscalculating and bumping shoulders with someone.

“Woah, sorry! My bad!”

The Korean felt his already warmed cheeks heat up a bit in embarrassment as he cast an apologetic smile up at —-?

Failing Fauna || Open

That was the only problem with living in the city- The flowers were never the best, not as good as the country side. It wasn't so noticeable, but they absorbed the scent of the City. So they weren’t the best for perfume, not for selling anyway. How on earth did his Aunt even manage.

He sighed and stood up, pulling his hand away from the frail fauna. “Ah- excuse me.. You wouldn’t know anywhere better for picking flowers would you?” He asked a passing stranger, hoping they’d know the area better than him. Part of him wished he’d gone out exploring more in his youth, maybe all of this would have been easier.
