If I had a nickel for every time I wrote a long form fic about Cas and Dean meeting in a dystopia using world building I love from a book or film, I’d have two nickels! Which isn’t a lot, but weird it happened twice. Anyways, here is my Supernatural/Blade Runner fushion I’ve been working on for months. I started writing it in April, and I’m so happy with everything I poured in. Will be updating weekly on Fridays/Saturdays.

She hates it when her dad calls her Samantha, the name a cheese grater against her brain. It's too formal, strict and stiff. Like being lashed across the back of her hand with a ruler.

Dean's never called her that. It's always been Sam. Or Sammy. Even when she was really little, there's never been a time where Dean used her full name. Not even when he's been pissed at her. Not even when she's gotten herself in trouble.

Always Sam. Sammy.

In a weird way, it feels like respect, the fact that Dean's noticed her preference for it. Calls her the name she answers to enthusiastically, sees the way her head perks up and her eyes seek him not, with fear or anxiety, but as though she's looking for a place to land. Home is here and I just need to follow the sound of his voice.

There's something more adult about Sam, too. It's stronger. Like it knows she can handle all the the moves, the constant uprooting, the monsters and the jobs and the endless traversing from place to place. Samantha is a girl in a ponytail who worries about the mascara smudging on her eyelashes and if a boy in class likes her back.

Sammy. Sam.

Never Samantha.
