Having such a large digital archive of TES concept art, I sometimes think about how many of the concept pieces (especially for the older games) are physical objects that exist in real space

In the Oblivion "making of" documentary, you can see concept art (that Bethesda hasn't published btw) just hanging on the wall in the background or pinned to a cork board. Quite a bit of it seemed to be stuff we've never had any scans of so the only "image" that exists of it is the original hard copy.

Real paper. Real ink/pencil. That piece of art is just right there for anyone to pick up and touch.

I do wonder what happens to the originals of paper drawn concept art once production is over. Sometimes it seems to go with the artist but in other cases it just seems to dissappear into the studio somewhere.
