Recently, I have been reading some Emily Dickenson poetry, and I like to take photos of the ones I especially like.

All this to say, I was scrolling through my camera roll and saw these photos next to each other and felt like they weirdly complimented one another.

Interview the Vampire never truly leaves my mind, but I finally convinced a friend to watch it so I have been thinking about it lotssss again.

I haven't made a post in a while, but I needed to come out of hibernation to express my love of Arcane season 2. I need it injected in my veins like Shimmer right now. Everything about it is so amazing, and the fan art, commentary, theories, and fanfiction have made such a special place on the internet that I adore.

I was talking to a friend the other day about JayViks relationship and it reignited my love for them again (not that it ever died lol, maybe just even stronger). They are my favourite duo/relationship in the series because of their ability to see and understand each other despite their differences. They pull each other back from the ledge numerous times and never stop believing in each other.

I know it's been talked about before, but there's also something so special about Jayce symbolically going through the trials of Viktor's life in the hex core. Jayce is injured and immobilised and is left to painstakingly climb from the depths of Zuan to the top of Piltover, just how Viktor had to in his life. After this Jayce doesn't villianise Viktor, he understands him, and we get that beautiful monologue from Jayce about imperfections being a part of what makes someone beautiful.

"There is beauty in imperfections. They made you who you are"

And when Viktor asks Jacye why he still tries after everything he's done, Jayce replies that he promised him ( we all cry in the arcane fandom 😭😭).

After Jayce shows Viktor what he has been through and Viktor is able to see the damage he has done, he replies to Jayce "this is what you see" which to me is just another example of them trusting in each other and how only good can come from that.

Just from this ending alone there are parts I could talk about forever, such as the "In all timeliness, in all possibilities, only you can show me this" which I don't even have the words to articulate how much I love this moment.

First pic was reffed from My Own Private Idaho, which ended up being a really bad idea because this focal length was ridiculous to try and flatten out and match with the others lol

Second pic was obvi The Pieta by Michelangelo, but shoutout to my partner for suggesting the role reversal cause I was initially gonna draw Viktor in Jayce's arms again, but having it the other way around gave me the idea for the last piece where they're mutually in each other's arms and on equal ground in the composition

Third pic was reffed from The Blossoming Of Love by Miquel Blay! Had to move Jayce's hand to Viktor's shoulder because he was too yolked for his arm to fit between them lmao

jayce enduring a symbolic rendition of viktor's trauma is so painful and so, so clever.

being stricken down and immobilized through sheer accident or, in viktor's case, a cruelly random quirk that caused his disability.

then physically dragging himself from the lowest level of zaun to piltover, much like how viktor spent his youth reaching toward the promise piltover offered, but only if he could "pull himself up by the boot straps" and get there on his own. socioeconomic forces working against him be damned.

i appreciate arcane reminding us of viktor's origins - the reason he is so called to help people and, eventually, save himself - and putting jayce through the ringer - the contrast between he and viktor's lived experiences is front and center throughout season 1. the writers send jayce, and the audience, on a grueling journey to contemplate those experiences and how they've manifested in these intertwined characters.

Make up the story about feeding the sacrifice soup as part of his punishment

Steal Malik’s sunglasses

Imitate Louis by crossing his legs

Tell Daniel about how he’s had sex with half the coven, to his long-time husband’s surprise

Pretend to be a real employee at the penthouse instead of simply inventing an alter ego like a normal person

Reveal his vampirism by hovering menacingly, moments after removing his brown contacts in record time
