Blog transition

So with the news of the aquaverse group itself coming to an end it appears time to make something new of the blog. I have always been attached to the mertalia and the wingtalia ideas, part of the reason I joined up was to finally have a mer themed heta community that I could be apart of long term.  Howeva! With the groups end it does not quite mean I wan’t to be rid of the blog that gives me this aquatic fix.  

Things that are to change 

*URL: of course look out for that

*Storyline: With the change I will be adjusting his story. can’t be too hard since I have not revealed much about him from the start. All I can say as of now is that I am willing to use this blog for collaborations and interactions 

*Ideas: honestly it’s been taking a bit of self convincing to not change this blog into something else completely. Knowing me I bet 50 dumplings as soon as I do that I will miss having something to express my watery fascinations into. What I will need of the remaining of my followers however are ideas of what you think you want to see or additions to this mertalia blog. Any AU’s you wan’t to see combined into this world or relations added? Let me know what could be cool!

Things that are not as likely to change 

Activity: As much as I love this blog I cannot always fill it with proactive content. I have a few ask blogs that share my time and the summer has forced me to be very minimalistic with my time to all the blogs. Aquaverse sometimes feels it hard since Guptas design is not an easy one. Endurance is all apart of the map of life though huh, I have been in the fandom for a long time and I will be here to provide. 

Personalty: He is pretty much going to be the same Gupta you know from this blog for better or worse, stomach issues to pancake cravings to odd friendship dynamics. 

And with that the blog is officially in WIP!

The blogs fate? I want to make it multi muse but also as interactive as I can. I love world building around tossing ideas. The aquarium will be left in the past and new adventures to have.

We're officially making Flatfish Fridays a thing. Spread the news. 🗞️🐟️⁠

Larval flatfish live in open water far above the seafloor. Like a typical fish, they have eyes on either side of their heads. But as flatfish develop into juveniles, one eye migrates over to join the other, and they settle onto their sides on the ocean floor. ⁠ ⁠ Adult flatfishes spend most of their time lying on their sides, camouflaged against the muddy seafloor or buried in the sand. When it’s time to find a meal or to escape an unwelcome predator, they swiftly push off the bottom and swim into the water above. They gracefully undulate their flattened bodies to swim, employing elongated fins for extra propulsion.

Meet your new favorite anglerfish—the flowery goosefish (Lophiodes miacanthus). 🎣🩵

This anglerfish belongs to the family Lophiidae, also known as the goosefishes. This group of alluring anglers uses their speckled coloration to blend into the sandy seafloor on the continental shelf.

Like other anglerfish, these bulbous beauties have a “fishing pole” projecting from their heads. Each species of anglerfish has its own unique rod and lure—some have simple lures, some have elaborate ones, and some even have multiple lures. Instead of expending energy to chase food, hungry anglerfish merely set out their bait and wait. While some deep-sea anglers use bioluminescent bait to catch their next meal, species that frequent the seafloor flick a frilly, decorative lure to draw in potential prey.

Thanks to the trove of deep-sea video filmed by MBARI's fleet of robots, scientists can document the diversity of life that dwells in the ocean’s depths and better understand humanity’s connection to the deep sea.
