new fandoms have no knowledge of what queerbaiting is because the shit im seeing on tiktok about what’s “not queerbait”?? is insane.

if wenclair does not happen, it is 100% queerbait. i do not think it’ll be canon because ive been here before (the supercorp trenches) and when it doesn’t happen the fandom is allowed to call it queerbaiting.

netflix knows how popular wenclair is and is blatantly advertising with enid and wednesday for season two on purpose. the cast have made openly positive remarks regarding the ship, tyler’s actor even posting the hashtag at the wednesgay event. it’s not just “people in the fandom shipping them” it is Known in the cast and by netflix and is being used to draw people to the show. the dialogue choices so far in s2 regarding them is intentional, especially with the “she’s my tunnel but i can’t imagine my life without her” LIKE COME ON.

women can just be friends! but there is a huge disconnect with writers on how to write female friendships. the best portrayal of of actual friendship in media would be the twisted sisters from greys anatomy. they have that closeness people have with their best friends/sisters and that’s Always how it was marketed. ITS POSSIBLE.

the show runners could’ve squashed wenclair and said it won’t happen but they didn’t, they left it open even with the popularity of the ship.
