The spring break service learning trip to Morocco was amazing, fabulous, surprising and fun :) Love all wildcats and Moroccan friends, totally enjoyed the country! Those three days totally changed our perspectives on a lot of things.
At the volunteering placement, Ardinny and I interacted with around 30 kids of 3-5-year olds. It was truly amazing to see how little kids can learn English so fast even we both couldn’t speak their languages. I miss the 3-year-olds the most ~>.<~ They are just too cute for life!! I wish I could spend more time with them, cuddling and singing.
Another highlight of the trip was exploring Rabat, where we volunteered, shopped, and sang and danced XD People were so friendly, especially the staff of our home-base. We became really good friend with a owner in Medina and bought several dozens of leather bags from him. Everything is handmade! AMAZING!
Service learning is really the best way to get to know a country like Morocco, like Lakisha said. We talked to people and explored the city by ourselves in Rabat. That’s how we learned stuff. The last two days we visited Marrakech. That was where we were treated as tourists. Didn’t really enjoy it, but definitely saw another perspective of traveling. The short tour in the first afternoon was very informational, but we were very passive, listening to the tour guide. If I have a chance to go back to Morocco, I’d love to go back to Cross-Cultural Solutions and explore other cities by myself or with friends.
Anyways„ I h<3 Al Maghreb!!
