writing prompt ask
This is for @spudmcloughlin who sent me the prompt āWhy didnāt you tell me?ā with Marvin and Jameson. (I will answer the other ask normally. I just didnāt want to lose either ask.)
Antiaverage or Marvelsepticeye for āhow long since you sleptā story prompt?
((First off, sorry this took so long to do! I got busy with finals for college and everything else thatās gone on recently. But I hope you enjoy this! I should tell you Iāve never written Marvelsepticeye before so I hope this is still good!))
Marvin was startled awake by a loud crash from downstairs. He shot up in bed, heart pounding as his eyes adjusted to the darkness of his bedroom. He looked over to see the other side of the bed was empty. Typical. Jackie was probably on another overnight patrol and wouldnāt show up until at least eleven a.m.
He slowly climbed out of bed, grabbing the baseball bat from under the bed. He made his way downstairs, searching every room for any sign of the intruder. Marvinās arms shook in fear as he made his way into the kitchen; he saw the light on there and knew the intruder was in there. He took a deep breath, steeling his nerves before he charged into the kitchen, swinging the bat wildly. He struck something solid and heard a pained āoomphā as the bat connected.
āThereās more where that came, burglar!ā Marvin shouted. His eyes widened in shock as he finally calmed down enough to see the person laying on the floor.
āWhat the hell was that for Marv? Canāt a guy have a sandwich in peace?ā
āJ-Jackie?! Oh my gosh, Iām so sorry! I didnāt know you were home! I thought you were out on patrol until morning!ā
Jackie sat up, rubbing his shoulder. āI was in the neighborhood and wanted to grab a bite to eat. I didnāt mean to scare you, love. I didnāt know you had such a wicked arm on ya.ā
Marvin dropped the bat, getting down on his knees beside Jackie. āIām sorry. Itās just been kind of hard with you being gone all night.ā He looked Jackie up and down, noting the heavy bags under his eyes.
āIām the one who should be sorry. It isnāt fair to you that Iām gone all the time. Crime has been increasing drastically in the city, but I just canāt figure out why,ā Jackie muttered. He pulled off his mask, throwing it to the ground.
āJackie, when was the last time you slept?ā Marvin asked, brushing the hair from his eyes.
Jackie shook his head, stifling a yawn. āDonāt worry about it. I downed 3 red bulls at the start of my patrol. Iāll be fine ātil tomorrow night.ā
Marvin stood, helping Jackie to his feet. āNone of that. Youāre no help to this city without sleep. Iām sure you can grab a nap without the city falling into complete chaos.ā
āYouāre right. Youāre always right. Howād I get so lucky to find you?ā
āYou arrested me for performing magic in the subway,ā Marvin laughed. He pressed a kiss to Jackieās temple, leading him up to their room.
āOh yeah. I didnāt want to, but the mayor passed that idiotic bill about street performers and I was doing what I was told. But it had a happy ending after all.ā Jackie was half asleep by the time they made it to the doorway, leaning on Marvin to keep himself up. āIād do it all over again, you know?ā
āI love you too, ya dork.ā
As a fic writer, i need every reader to know that:
I donāt care if your comment is coherent. I know what you mean and i love you
I donāt care if you ramble. I read every word and i love you
I donāt care if you leave a comment on a fic from four years ago or leave comments/kudos on like ten of my fics in one go. This isnāt IG, pls stalk my AO3. I love you
I donāt care if you mention the same thing in your comment that four other people have already mentioned. Itās actually really useful to know what resonated with people and I love everyone who takes the time to tell me they liked a particular turn of phrase
I donāt mind if your comment is super long or just a couple of sentences, i love them all
I love you
Welp, Itās me again.. I just canāt get enough of your writing! Itās so awesome! Anyway, I was wondering if you could do something with Anti & JackieBoyMan, the prompt āPlease donāt cry, I hate when you cry.ā was perfect for wholesome times between the two.
Anti paused in his cleaning, ears straining for the sound that pulled him from his thoughts. He shrugged his shoulders when he didnāt hear the sound again, turning back to polish the knife in his hand.
There it was again, but louder. Anti sighed, setting the knife down on the table and standing. He moved slowly through the house, searching out the source of the sound. Anti was sure that he had been alone in the house, but it was obvious now he wasnāt.
He stopped outside Jackieboyās room. The door was closed and the āGo Away!ā sign was firmly in place. Anti turned the doorknob without knocking and slipped inside the bedroom.
The room was an absolute disaster, with newspapers littering the floor and clippings covering the walls. Jackieās computer monitors all showed looping footage of an apartment fire from two days prior. The quivering lump of blankets on the bed told Anti that Jackie had had a rough day.
Anti sat down on the edge of the bed, hand hovering over the lump. āHey Jackie. You doing okay?ā
āGo ... away. I donāt deserve to talk to anyone,ā Jackie mumbled, voice thick with tears.
āAre you sure you donāt want to talk about it? It might help you feel better. I know Iām not the first person people think of when they need a listening ear, but I hate seeing you this upset.ā
A hand snaked out from under the blankets, reaching for one of the many newspapers. He shoved it at Anti before pulling his hand back under the covers. Anti glanced over the front page headline, brows drawing together as he read.
āYou canāt expect to be able to save everyone, Jackie. Youāre just one person and this city has a million people in it. A few are bound to be lost. But you canāt give up; thatās not the Jackieboy I know. If you hide away in your room, then everything that article says would be true, instead of just lies and slander. You have to keep fighting Jackie ... for all of us.ā
Jackie sat up, the blankets falling away to reveal him tired and puffy-eyed. Tear tracks stained his cheeks even as new ones fell. āI tried. I really did. I just ... I couldnāt get to them in time. What kind of a hero canāt save the people he swore to protect?ā
āDonāt talk like that. Youāre the greatest hero this city has ever had. You just have to believe in yourself again, like I do.ā Anti leaned forward, wiping the tears from Jackieās face with the sleeve of his shirt. āPlease donāt cry. I hate when you cry.ā
Jackie sniffled, nodding. āYeah okay. Youāre right. Thanks Anti ... for everything.ā
sorry if that was a lot, I just love angst a lot but can't write it myself!! you don't have to write all of them if it's too much, no pressure!
No worries, I love writing angst! I'll get to every ask hopefully this weekend :)
You know the drill, send me a number and an ego or two and I'll give you angst! (Note: doesn't have to be a ship, ignore the very top)
Suh Dude! I saw you were doing a Drabble sort of thing, so how about 6 with our number one Sad Dad, Chase Brody?
āI canāt do this anymore.ā
It was the only thing Chase said in the 10 minute long voicemail he left on Stacyās phone. It was the first time sheād heard from him in nearly 3 months, after he suddenly stopped picking the kids up for his weekend visits. He refused to answer her calls and texts, and didnāt come to the door when she stopped by. She listened to the voicemail and promptly deleted it. She had a new boyfriend who was a good dad to her kids, and that was all she needed.
Chase stood in the middle of the bridge, staring down at the rushing water below. He pulled his phone out of his pocket, checking one last time to see if anyone had called him back. He sighed, throwing his phone into the river. No one cared about him. That much was obvious now.
āChase!ā
He turned, chest tightening as Marvin and Jackie jumped from the car, racing towards him.
āI canāt do this anymore,ā He muttered, stepping over the guardrail and out onto the ledge.
āDonāt do this Chase, please! We can help you! Just come home,ā Marvin pleaded, taking a tentative step towards Chase.
āStop! Donāt come any closer! You donāt understand! I canāt do this anymore! The voices wonāt stop! This is the only way! Iām sorry ... Iām sorry.ā
Chase closed his eyes and stepped off the ledge. Wind rushed around him before he hit the cold water.
Marvin and Jackie raced to the edge of the bridge, desperately searching the water for any sign of Chase.
āHeās ... gone.ā
DAMMIT I DIDNT EXPECT IT TO HURT SO MUCH
Iām sorry, though you should know by now my default is ANGST :P
24, Illinois
You look up at the sound of the front door slamming open and the vase near it crashing to the ground. Illinois stomps into the kitchen, throwing his hat on the floor.
āWho pissed in your cheerios?ā You ask with a chuckle.
āYOU! Where the fuck were you, Y/N?!ā Illinois snaps.
āWhat do you mean, where was I? I was here!ā You walk over to the table, sitting down in the closest chair. āYouāve been gone all week, and you think you can just come waltzing in here acting like an asshole? Where even were you?ā
Illinois sighs, slumping into the chair across from you. āI was waiting for you in the cabin. You know, like we agreed on? You were supposed to be there! Where were you when I needed you?ā
You sit back in shock. āOh no, was this the weekend we were going to go adventuring? Iāve been so swamped with school lately it completely slipped my mind. Are you hurt?ā You stand, moving to kneel by his side. Your hands trail up his side, checking for any sign of injury.
Illinois rubs a hand across his beard. āI uh, think I twisted my ankle when I fell down a hole. Promise you wonāt tell the others? Itās kind of embarrassing.ā
You laugh, patting him on the knee. āDonāt worry, your secret is safe with me. Now why donāt we get you settled on the couch and get some ice on that ankle? Weāll have you back on your feet exploring caves in no time.ā
āThanks darling. Sorry for snapping earlier. You know I get lonely on the road.ā
You help him to the couch, pecking him on the cheek. āI forgive you, Illy.ā
Robbie/anti "i never meant to hurt you"
His pulse pounded in his ears and the room titled dangerously. He looked down but he didn't really see. Crimson soaked into his shirt, the black handle of the knife jutting out a sharp contrast. Robbie collapsed against the wall, hands shaking as they hovered around the knife, unsure if he should pull it out or not. He moaned in pain as his legs finally gave out from under him and he slid down to the floor.
"No! No, no, no. Robbie! You weren't supposed to be here!" Anti shouted as he rushed to Robbie's side; his electric green eyes shimmered with tears. "You know no one's allowed down here."
Robbie looked up at his older brother, reaching out to place something in Anti's hand. "I--I just wanted ... to surprise you. I know ... it's a little early for ... Christmas, but I couldn't wait."
Anti held the simple silver ring up to the light. He rolled it in his fingers, reading the inscription on the inside.
"To my brother Anti ... My other half." A tear slid down Anti's cheek. He slid the ring on his finger, trying desperately to keep it together. "I love it dude. Thanks."
"I'm sorry I broke your rule," Robbie muttered, his breathing labored and shallow.
"Don't be sorry. I shouldn't be so quick to react all the time. I never meant to hurt you. I promise I never meant to; you startled me. You just gotta hang on a little bit while I go get Schneep. He'll fix this." Anti ran a hand through Robbie's hair, letting it linger on his cheek.
Robbie shook his head. "You and I both know...I'm not going to last that long. Just stay with me, please?"
Anti nodded, sitting down on the ground and gathering Robbie into his lap. "I'll always be here with you. No matter where you go, I'll always be right by your side."
Anti felt the hot sting of tears slip down his face as Robbie grew still in his arms. A sob bubbled past his lips, quickly turning into wailing howls that bounced off the walls.
"I--I never meant ... to hurt you."
Send me a number and an ego or two (JSE or iplier) for some drabble inspiration!
