Cryptid fish that has only been seen once and never again that may or may not exist but well never know my beloved
The Rompo is a bizarre creature found in Africa and India. The Rompo is described as a cat-like creature with the head of hare that has human ears, the mane of a horse, the back legs of a bear, and the front legs of a badger. The Rompo is nocturnal and has very odd eating habits being that it only eats human corpses; however it won’t eat the corpse right away when it finds it, it will circle the corpse a few times to make sure it’s safe to eat then when it eats it makes a crooning sound. When the Rompo feels threatened, it’s skin will change color to match its surroundings. Many people believe that the Rompo could actually be descriptions of Old World porcupines.

Am Fear Liath Mòr, or the Big Grey Man of Ben MacDhui, is a presence or creature that haunts the peak of Ben Macdui. Skeptics are split on whether the Greyman is a creature such as Bigfoot, or Yeti, or if it is a dark presence or invisible being. Various accounts point out that when fog is present, the Greyman is stalking it’s prey. Many witnesses say that when summiting the mountain while there is a thick cloud of fog, they begin to feel a deep sensation of uneasiness and fear. Many accounts also claim that they could hear footsteps behind them, followed by grunting and moaning. The few people that have seen the creature, claim that it is a tall, hairy, muscular bipedal creature that fills them with deep regret and fear when they lock eyes with the beast. Many unbelievers think that all of this is due to illusions, or hallucinations due to the remote, and dark setting of the mountain peak. In a 1958 article of The Scots magazine, mountaineer and eye-witness Alexander Tewnion said this:
“In October 1943 I spent a ten day leave climbing alone in the Cairngorms… One afternoon, just as I reached the summit cairn of Ben MacDhui, mist swirled across the Lairig Ghru and enveloped the mountain. The atmosphere became dark and oppressive, a fierce, bitter wind whisked among the boulders, and… an odd sound echoed through the mist – a loud footstep, it seemed. Then another, and another… A strange shape loomed up, receded, came charging at me! Without hesitation I whipped out the revolver and fired three times at the figure. When it still came on I turned and hared down the path, reaching Glen Derry in a time that I have never bettered. You may ask was it really the Fear Laith Mhor? Frankly, I think it was.”
The Slide-Rock Bolter is a land-whale type creature that resides in the Colorado mountain ranges. The creature has reportodly been spotted during the 1800’s until the early 1900’s. The creature resides on mountains that have an angle of 45 degrees or higher. All day long, the creature will wait until an unfortunate tourist or animal gets in front of its massive mouth. When the victim is in range, the creature lets go of the peak by lifting up it’s tail, and slides down with its mouth wide open. The creature is so giant that it can destroy trees and even houses that are in its way. One ranger had an idea to kill the Bolter. He set up a dummy tourist, filled with gunpowder, so when the Bolter would slide down, it would hit the dummy so hard, the gunpowder would explode. The next day, the ranger went back to the dummy site, and found a flattened area, that destroyed half of the buildings of a town called Rico. The creature has never been seen since.
The Man-Bat of Northern Mexico is described as a humanoid bat found in Mexico. The Man-Bat of Northern Mexico is described as a bat-like creature with brown skin, black fur, and large black eyes. The Man-Bat of Northern Mexico was first reported in 2004 by a police officer named Leonardo Samaniego when it fell out of a tree on his car while he was out one night patrolling. Leonardo Samaniego turned his headlights on to get a better look at the creature which caused it to flinch and then attack the car and stat to violently shake it and smash his windshield. He eventually gunned the car in reverse and crashed it causing him to be knocked unconscious. When he woke up in the hospital the relayed his tale to the other officers where he was given a drug test which came back negative which leads his testimony to be unexplained.
The Nachtkrapp is a raven-like creature found in Germany. The Nachtkrapp is described as an eagle-sized raven, with either no eyes or holes where the eyes should be that if looked at will cause death and holes in its wings that if seen will cause illness. The Nachtkrapp is said to hunt for children at night and rip their limbs off and pluck out their hearts with its sharp beak. Nachtkrapp means “Night Raven” in German and there is even a kind version of this creature called the Guter Nachtkrapp or “Good Night Raven” that will sing children to sleep.
The Spottsville Monster is an ape-like creature found in Spottsville Kentucky. The Spottsville Monster is described as an ape-like creature that is eight feet tall, covered in dark, shaggy hair, and having very sharp teeth. A famous account of the Spottsville Monster is where the creature attacked the Nunnelly family when their animals started disappearing a firefighter named Roy came in to see the creature for himself. Roy reports that the Spottsville Monster could appear and disappear at will, step on dirt without leaving footprints, and bullets did not effect it.
The Fouke Monster is a bipedal ape like creature that is reported to reside near the town of Fouke, Arkansas. The creature was first spotted in 1971, and was last spotted in 2010. The Fouke Monster was accused of killing livestock, and for terrorizing the locals. It is described as being 7-8 feet tall with a weight of 250-300 pounds. Cryptid: The Ohio Grassman
BIGFOOT MAY HAVE AN OHIO RELATIVE
An ancient cryptid may lurk in the woods of North-eastern, Eastern, and South eastern Ohio.
CRYPTID INFO
For 100+ years the legend of the grass-man has been a staple of Ohio, lurking in the woods while scavenging for food. They are said to have a loud booming yell and to be relatively tall.
Grass-men are omnivores, but commonly eat wheat and vegetation. Also, unlike most cryptids, there is more than one grass-man. In most eye-witness accounts, grass-men travel in groups, meaning they could very well be an undiscovered species of animal.
WITNESS ACCOUNT
My dad and both of my uncles claim to have heard the grass-man when they were kids, and swear by their story to this day. Here is there account.
“We were playing in the woods by our apartment complex, it was almost sunset and getting dark outside, our game was interrupted by a loud low yell. Birds flew out of the trees, it was unnatural, something I haven’t heard before or since.” - my dad
CONCLUSION
It isn’t strange to think something we have never seen before is hiding out in the miles and miles of Ohio’s woods. There are deer, weasels, coyotes, bob-cats, and the occasional bear that hide out in these woods. The grass-man could just be another animal, or maybe, the grass-man is something more.
What do you think?
The Tote-Road Shagamaw is a fearsome critter from the folklore of North American lumberjacks. It is said to be the size of a horse, with the front paws of a bear and the hind legs of a moose. It will sometimes walk on its back legs, and sometimes on its front paws, to leave two confusing sets of tracks on the ground. Some tales give a specific number - four-hundred-and-forty-four steps on each set of legs.
The Shagamaw is not an aggressive creature, and uses stealth, along with its misleading tracks, to avoid hunters. It does, however, have a taste for cotton and cloth, and will often eat washing left out by people to dry.

Orange Eyes
In March of 1959 three teenagers went out onto an old country road nicknamed lover’s lane in Mansfield, Ohio. What they went there for one can only assume but their night didn’t go as expected. The three teens fled the area when an 11 foot tall, 1,000 pound creature with large glowing orange eyes emerged from the forest. Therefore the area of Mansfield and Charles Mill Lake birthed a local legend.
The decades that followed gave many other individuals the opportunity to see this mysterious creature. On one occasion a group even armed themselves and headed out into the forest and country roads to kill the creature. One night in 1968 a group of pre-teens reportedly chased after the orange eye’d beast with baseball bats and rope intending to capture the creature but it managed to escape. In 1991 Orange Eyes was spotted for its final time by two fishermen. The creature eventually faded into local legend and was never seen again.
Some described the animal as being ape-like similar to Bigfoot. Others believe that Orange Eyes is an alien that was trapped on Earth. In October of 1973 a UFO was spotted over Mansfield which emitted a green beam of light coming from the craft down to the ground. Many locals all saw it from different parts of town, and people began to correlate Orange Eyes with UFOs. What exactly Orange Eyes is we will never know, It hasn’t made in appearance in 26 years and presumably isn’t coming back.

As old legends go, the Jackalope is thought to be able to mimic human voices. It is thought that the Jackalope only mates during severe thunderstorms, and because of that, they are most vocal during this time. Stories say that Cowboys have told of how this strange rabbit would echo their campfire songs at night.
