The new building will have a saw tooth roof, which refers to a factory function. It shows that people are making products / food / music and other creative products within this building. The masonry will express a certain individuality of the buildings, either with colour or with its bond. In that way a small creative village will be created on top of the roof.

This conceptual model is reusing the existing ramp and expressing different ideas for the facade. The last image shows future transformations for the rooftop.

If the new building will have extra levels on top of the parking deck, what are the options for the structure? I did some research on an additional structure (option C), which resulted in a ‘column forest’. In this option the grid got way too small (4,25*4,25 m), so I will go for one of the other options.

The Honigcomplex will be partly demolished at the end of 2021. A flexible building will be designed to relocate some creative start-ups and other companies from the Honigcomplex to our site. So a new function will be introduced to the city centre of Nijmegen. To get a better understanding of the needs of the Honigcomplex, I did some research on the current situation.
