"Wait, what?!" Bobby asks, snowy brows furrowed in confusion. Okay, he knows he doesn't know how to talk to girls. That's nothing new, and besides, the rest of his team has a habit of reminding him during the few times he manages to forget.
"I didn't mean you're challenged, jeez," he says, nose wrinkling slightly. Had he been thinking that, maybe? No, he'd know if he was thinking something like that. All of his thoughts about them tend to be more... wistful. They're just so.... yeah. "Don't you think if I'd actually meant that, I'd have been an idiot and just said it? I mean, at the rate I'm going here, that's the most likely thing."
Bobby's lips press together and he looks over the five of them. One seems especially bored and unimpressed, nothing new there. He's seen that look plenty of times. One seems pretty insulted by what he'd said (and apparently unintentionally insinuated, ugh), and while he thinks he can see some mild curiosity in the others, he can't be too sure.
"Look, alright, I've clearly gotten off on the worst foot possible," he says, defeated, and maybe a little annoyed. Mostly with himself. "It's not like I can introduce myself, 'cuz everyone here knows who I am already, and you're all like, way smart or whatever so of course you'll know. And everyone avoids us all the time. So I'm awkward, so sue me!"
Huffing out a cold, heavy sigh that billows visibly through the air, he at least has the decency to look a little sheepish after that outburst. Okay, so the future is hard and weird and he doesn't like it and he's not exactly handling it as well as he'd like. And as much as he could blame it on being the youngest, he doesn't want to keep using that crutch. No, he's got to learn how to deal. Maybe.
"Sorry." Straightening up a bit, he looks at each of them briefly in turn before reaching back and scratching at the back of his head. "Okay, so I'm Bobby. It's nice to meet you even though I've horribly embarrassed myself."
