the frustration of feeling unheard/misunderstood. and then the growing process of saying that is ok and that everybody is handling their own things and may not have the time to fully hear you out.
but uhhh still. the frustration. lol
I remember this era very very well. I had been working at this brand for a long time and after 5 years, I had finally mustered the courage to advocate for myself. Shortly after transitioning into my new position, and a few days after this post, I was let go (by no fault of my own).
I had never been fired before let alone been on unemployment. And to top it off, to be unemployed living on my own with $1700 rent + bills etc. So this was a MAJOR shock to the system. I just remember listlessly meandering around my apartment for months, reevaluating my worth, eating endless amounts of spaghetti, and being depressed.
It is insane to me to think that was only a few years ago. My life/career path has changed tremendously since then. And as I look back and take stock of those changes (and I can pin down each of those turning points in the last 5 years), I am just immensely proud of myself and utterly grateful for where I'm at today (really living out my career dreams and only dreaming more and more everyday). I've realized that (for myself anyways), one of the true joys in life is discovering what you're capable of.
And I just want to remind you that you're VERY capable as well. No matter what it is: a real bummer of a situation, a goal you're trying to achieve, a leap you're scared to make; whatever it may be, that you can. And you will.
I hope one day you're proud of yourself for everything that you did to pull through and keep going. As Kendrick Lamar once said, "Let's get this shit, let's get this shit, let's get this shit, let's UH - topodamorningtopodamorningtopadamorningtopadamorning"
