They’re also shooting for 100% renewable plastic sources by 2030! All of the soft plant/leaf elements in sets right now and going forward are made out of bioplastic made from sugarcane, and they’re working on getting the regular hard plastic bricks out of that, too.

Hi, I'm 25 and debating starting male-to-female HRT. However, I'm scared that HRT won't help me at all. It seems like HRT does so little after puberty, especially by the time one gets in their 20s. I'm really scared that I'll just end up being someone in a male body, but with breasts. Is there anything you can say to someone having this fear? Thank you, and sorry, I suspect this is a silly question.

Actually, the claim that HRT doesn’t do much after puberty is a myth.  I started when I was 31 years old and now I’m 35. =)

the worst thing about quidditch is that it robs every scene of an effective and perfect sports dramatic device in TIME LIMITS and that is why it’s obvious that j/k/r is at best a casual sports fan

I gotta go off about Quidditch for one sec.

The skill disparity between a 17 year old dude and a 13 year old kid is so immense it doesn’t make any sense to put them on one team. Looking at it from a perspective of strength alone these teams should just be made up of sixth and seventh years. Or there should be a Varsity and Jr Varsity team (or British equivalent whatever).

And you’re telling me you expect to only have 7 players total? There should be like 10 chasers on each team being subbed in for different plays like in American football. A back up Seeker and Keeper if the starter gets injured. Your seeker gets injured in the game? Okay you got no shot at catching the snitch now. Your Keeper is gone? You’re giving up 100 goals. Makes 0 sense.

This is basic stuff and I will now accept all of this as a part of Quidditch, giving it the dimension it so desperately needs.

@mppmaraudergirl i think judging by school football (it is NOT called soccer tyvm america) i am ok with wide age ranges…but reasonable to expect teams to skew older. i know i’ve always written teams that way, with the exception of james. and off the top of my head i can’t recall any named players in the series as young as harry and draco. we can chalk that up to drama. iirc cho is mentioned in POA and fourth year seems reasonable for a seeker (more speed than goal-scoring ability)

the no-subbing thing is truly idiotic though, yup! there are some more weird rules — no one but the keeper can block a shot? what? blocking exists in literally every single goal-based sport!

another senseless thing is the fact that there is only ONE quidditch league in the country. nuh uh, i call bullshit. in our capitalist world tee em there is no WAY business interests would not have led to second- and third-tier teams à la the premier league. and where do young players come from? only hogwarts?? why don’t we hear about more older players wanting to go pro? shouldn’t english quidditch be pretty shit if they have that small a talent pool? does the league get prospects from all across europe? (i’d write it this way)

if i had to restructure quidditch just off the top of my head i’d allow rolling subs like in football, and if not time limits then at least fixed periods of play with breaks in between, so that the teams can switch sides. 

also re the business aspect, as it stands quidditch is literally ENTIRELY sudden-death overtime — any team can end the game at any moment by catching the snitch. so… why would i, a fan, be happy about having watched my team lose in 10 seconds after i PAID to watch a proper game? why would i, in team management, be happy to host rowdy fans for days on end in my stadium, all while having to supply refreshments myself? at least the latter can be remedied by magic, but there’s no recourse for the former

in fact, why not release the snitch after two 45-minute periods of play? then the game has to go on for at least 90 minutes, each team gets a chance on each end of the pitch, and it doesn’t feel like goal-scoring is pointless. but anyway, it turns out she literally constructed the sport to be frustrating, so lmfao

Yeah there is no way there isn’t some kind of minor league system for Quidditch, whether it feeds into the professional teams similar to some American sports I could see it either way.

As far as the Snitch situation I actually don’t mind it being around from the start. It adds an interesting level of strategy to the game. In particular because in Quidditch its not just about a W-L record but points scored. So it’s not just enough to get the Snitch if you need a certain point differential or in general need a certain amount of points scored. And it’s not just enough that your seeker doesn’t catch it. Your beaters would have to be effective here in keeping the other teams seeker away from the Snitch. That’s a cool nuance to me.
