“you already have the taser and pistol from work, we don’t need anymore firearms in this house. you keep it turned off here, but do you know how many times the babies have reached for it and almost gotten it? what if one day you forget to turn it off? the same thing can happen with a gun. we all appreciate the safety, but we already have the resources — that i don’t like — so there’s no reason to have more than needed. we already almost lost cat, we don’t need anything in this house, where she’s supposed to be safe, to possibly put her in harm’s way even more.”
He nodded at her words knowing that it was always a possibility with having guns in the house. It’s not like he would leave them lying around the house unattended, he only even sat them down on the table long enough to get his keys hung up and shoes off by the door then both of them went into the lock box at the top of their closet. “Okay but I will whip out my pistol if anyone ever hurts my girls.” He said, his looked over at Cat when she spoke about almost losing her. That was the worse day of his life, one he’d pay any price to never have to relive. “Alright, no shotgun. I promise.”

“i know, but we’re raising them with morals. they’re the daughters of a preacher’s daughter. they’ll have it in them to know to wait for someone they love,” she said. “it’s gonna happen, honey. it’s inevitable. but it won’t happen for a long, long time, huh twins? tell daddy not to worry.”
Aadyn looked at her with squinted eyes. “I’m buying a shotgun just in case.”

“I figured but still it was three in the morning and that’s what I picked to read about. I ended up spending most of the night looking around the house for snakes.”

“you mean like i was defiled by a horny teenage boy?” she asked with a grin. “cause, yanno, in my experience, my defiling was pretty great.” booker scrunched her nose and giggled, looking down at cat as she nursed. “tell daddy to chill out. we have years before any of that happens.”
Aadyn shook his head at her.”No, I loved you and I still love you. Most boys just want in a girls pants.” He smiled. “It was pretty awesome.” Aadyn leaned over and kissed all three girls on the cheek. “It will never happen.”

“I never said i lived an exciting life. I’m good with the typical ordinary and boring one. Never let it bother me. I don’t know if i could do that, man. But you gotta do what you love.”
“I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. It just sounds boring to me. I don’t think I could have the typical life. Doing what I love definitely makes everyday different from the last.”

“Then we’re in sync! Not much, i guess just work and hanging out here and there. I don’t live the most exciting life. What about you?”
“Sounds kinda boring but hey if that’s what you enjoy that’s what you enjoy. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I’m a police officer, everyday is a new adventure. Not always one I want to go on but still.”

She squealed in embarrassment as her two-year-old ran up to the stranger, her hands going to her face to cover her blush as she scolded her toddler. “T, you don’t just run up to strangers hm? I’m so sorry she has no concept of stranger danger…”
He laughed and smiled at the girl. “It’s a good thing i’m a police officer then. Stranger danger can sometimes be a hard concept to teach, i’m not looking forward to it when my girls are older.”

“My car just got here from LA, so you could say I’m having a pretty good day. I mean, at least for a Sunday.” Derek muses out loud, looking over at the person next to you. “What about you? Having a decent day so far?”
“Not a bad looking car.” He said with a shrug. “Weathers not terrible and i’ve gotten quite a few things done today so i’m going to say i’m having a good day.”
