The hardest thing about today was NOT getting a call from the caregiver telling me she was sick and wouldn’t be able to watch Mary today and scrambling around trying to find a replacement. It was NOT being up most of the night/morning caring for Mary and trying to get her to go back to bed (all the while not making it easy because she had a very bad attitude with John and I)… But it was having to drop her off at Bella Angel for “adult daycare”. When she began to cry wanting to be in her own home around family who would take care of her, IT ABSOLUTELY BROKE MY HEART! She didn’t want to be in a strange place, and she knew that there were family members who would take care of her!! Reality was that I was her family member that has been taking care of her yet I was also the one dropping her off. It was a very tough pill to swallow- I almost put her back in the car and was going to take her to work with me. But I didn’t. I couldn’t. I had to remind myself I have a life too, I have to be there for my husband, our company and our family. This disease called Alzheimer’s is one of the worst/hardest things I’ve had to experience. No matter how mean, rude, aggressive Mary gets- it breaks my heart knowing she’s physically here yet gone at the same time. 💔 #wishingtherewasacure #alzheimers #alzheimerssucks
