👇👇 @plantastic_mr_fox • • • • • • London, United Kingdom STEPHANIA ERECTA CARE TIPS BELOW: So you may remember in my stories a few weeks ago that I finally got a Stephania erecta tuber. I’ve wanted one for years but haven’t been available in the UK until recently. Anyway, I’m that impatient that I had to get myself one that’s already routed and I’m officially in love. Shephania erecta is a beautiful Caudex plant which are very sort after and are definitely going to be the trending plant of 2021. They are well suited to a well draining cacti succulent potting mix with higher levels of iron and aluminium oxide. Avoid watering the tuber, bottom up watering is a solution to avoiding this problem. Please see below for more of my tips and tricks on these cuties: . ☀️ LIGHT: They love bright sun light. Due to them being native to Thailand they are often exposed to lots of light. Mine will be under a grow light during the winter months. . 💧 WATER: Water about once every 7-10 days but sparingly. Water once per month in autumn and winter. They do store water in their surface mounted tuber which is a common feature for Caudex plants. Do not over water as this will rot the Caudex! . 🌧HUMIDITY: To get the tuber to start sprouting, they do like the humidity a little higher. I put mine on a heat mat and under a glass bell jar. Once rooted and it’s showing signs of life, try to keep humidity between 55% to 65%. . 👨‍🍳 FOOD: I recommend 5 ml of liquid fertiliser in a litre of water once a month during growing season and don’t fertilise at all in winter. . 🍁 SOIL: They like it very very airy, light, well draining and gritty.
