Hello! I did a thing for Nova and Mali's "Classics...but make it gay" art book! The pre-orders are closed at the moment but I think they'll reopen again in winter/fall so please keep an eye on their twitter page if you'll like a copy! Everyone in it is amazing and I am very thankful for being accepted for the project! I did a reinterpretation of Leighton's "God Speed" because I just want an excuse to paint two knights staring lovingly at each other haha > <
[Image description: art based on Edmund Blair Leighton’s “God Speed” showing two female knights. One of them rides by on a white horse, the other leans over a nearby balcony and ties a red piece of fabric around the others arm.
Both are wearing armor. The one riding has light skin. The one standing is black. end Image description]
you guys heard of gawain? sound of the summer
Peaceful 🌼🤍
[Image Description: a drawing of a female knight in slightly scuffed armour holding her helmet under her arm. she is thin and muscular with a square jaw and freckled brown skin. her hair is chest length and in scraggly black waves. she is standing in a field of white tulips and holding one in her hand while white butterflies fly around her landing on the armour. End Description]
Skin and feather and bone. If you could take it into your own dead hands, you would.
they/them
can’t talk right now, doing queer knight stuff.
[image description: op sits in an ornate wood and green velvet chair, legs crossed and wearing metal armor over black clothes. they are resting an arming sword on one shoulder and look at the camera with a serious expression. the background is dark green drapery, with a faux fur rug on the floor. op is white with long straight brown hair tied back. end image description.]
you’ve just learned that the person you reblogged this from was convicted of being a serial killer. what are the things you say were early warning signs

i know its easy to think about what the ideal arthurian tv show/film would look like but for me in terms of paper media i actually think a comic series would work best to capture the meta storytelling themes that are almost required for modern arthuriana. im thinking, like– there’s a bit in Young Avengers Vol. 2 where the villain grabs the narrator’s speech bubble off the page and eats it. there’s another moment where a character hops into the space between comic panels, and another where someone rifles through different versions of themselves and picks the one they want to be. and its all visually represented using the conventions of the comic genre, twisted them and warping them and turning them on their head. loki: agent of asgard does this as well and also sandman overture– i think all these stories that have to do with perception and reputation and living traditions as meta work really well in a medium that is, in my mind, perhaps one of the most fluid and versatile storytelling venues in existence. also i think gawain should be able to read the narration boxes and lancelot should be able to travel between panels and guinevere should be able to rewrite other characters dialogue
ok ok so i know this may make no sense to people who dont know comics so. exmaples of what im talking about for vibes.
this cover for loki aoa where they’re literally sitting on the covers of previous comics about them:
the way angela 1602 uses visual storytelling vs speech bubbles to juxtapose reality with the story being told as well as play with characterization:
the moment billy gives loki a new body in young avengers vol 2 and to do so he rifles through all the different iterations of them:

Ghosts or something like that.
bad remarkable comic is here
Moth princess and her butterfly knight
[Image: Digital painting of a humanoid princess with medium-dark skin in a long pink gown; Luna moth wings sprout from between her shoulder blades, and a pair of fluffy antennae stand up from her curly white hair. Kneeling in front of her, drawing one of the princess’s hands close to kiss the back of it, is a humanoid lady knight with similarly dark skin and white hair; she’s wearing silver-black armor, the helmet tucked under her free arm, and a sword is strapped to her left hip. Delicate black swallowtail wings with extravagant tails are growing from her back, and knobbed butterfly antennae poke out from the top of her head. End ID.]
Another one for the “Silk and Steel Volume 2, please!” collection.
its chill he gets better lmao
