A short improvisation for fellow bass clarinetist Ralph Yarl who was shot for ringing the wrong doorbell while black. Super tragic.

Im not sure why I picked this up, perhaps a complete ignorance of the Harlem renaissance as an artistic movement other than surface knowledge. But I’m glad I did. This is such a beautifully written deeply human story that left me in tears by the end. I mean listen to this… “Of course he wasn’t dead. He could never be dead until she herself had finished feeling and thinking. The kiss of his memory made pictures of love and light against the wall. Here was peace. She pulled in her horizon like a great fish-net. Pulled it from around the waist of the world and draped it over her shoulder. So much of life in its meshes! She called in her soul to come and see.” Highly recommended! https://www.instagram.com/p/Clyy4oRroXQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Holy Mountain (1973), dir. Alejandro Jodorowsky
Seeing these stills up close makes me sad Jodorowsky never got to make Dune.
I’ve been making hand drawn album covers for a few months now. Thought I’d take a shot posting them here too. Here’s my take on Captain Beefheart’s Trout Mask Replica. If you like it you can buy it, and others here...
