1 year ago today this amazing girl was in the operating room for her #craniosynostosis followed by two more days in icu and on the brink of a blood transfusion... she had the most amazing attitude through it all. We are so thankful to hold her today, watch her adventurous spirit grow and see her bring joy to all. Thank you everyone for your support and prayers and thank you Jesus for your steadfast love.
Abby is a free woman! No more helmet! We are so thankful for her doctor's wisdom and expertise, our friends/family who have walked along side us in prayer and support, and for the grace that God has given us throughout this entire journey. We are looking forward to the next chapter in this beautiful girl's life... Hopefully with a little less stress 😉
Passed out after a trying time at the eye doctor... Found out that her stigmatism is improving and everything else looks good, so we won't have to go through that again for another year, yay! 😊
Our poor baby girl was tormented today as she was fitted for her 2nd helmet. 😢 It took 3 grown men to get the job done, Daddy volunteered for the hardest job of holding her. Once it was all done though she was back to her cheerful self, thankful we won't have to go through that again!
The baby girl had another appointment with her surgeons today to check on her progress. She's doing good and they like the progress and want a new helmet to keep the momentum going through the summer and hopefully get more improvement. As always she was her happy self the whole appointment. Abby had a follow up with her surgeons today and they were very happy with her progress but they also want to continue to see her improve so she gets to sport her head gear through the summer. We both agree that while she has come a long way we want to see it through to the finish to give her the greatest improvement in head shape possible. She did so great today waiting over 2 hours in a doctors office and not to mention through dinner time, flashing her beautiful smile at all who walked by! I just love her sweet and determined spirit 😍
Happy birthday to my dearest Abigail Halberg this year has truly been an adventure with you, some of it down right scary, but most of it filled with joy and sunshine. We thank God for you and his protection over you. We love you to the moon and back!
After a long nap in daddy's arms and throwing up once she's showing signs of her old self. Glad to see our happy girl again 😊
Out of the OR, quick recovery and now we're heading home! She's such a champ. A little out of it but doing great!
Abby was in good spirits as we got her prepped for the surgical team. She's in the OR now. Thanks for all the love and prayers!
2nd surgery tomorrow at 7:30am!
We're going in tomorrow morning with Abby to have the spring removed from her skull. The surgery time is slated for 7:30am and we need to be there by 6am! She is required to fast from 1:30am on so pray that she holds up alright. Also, tomorrow is her 11 month birthday!
We saw Abby's surgeons today and her next surgery is set for this Monday April 25th! (It was that or wait until June). They will be removing the spring placed in her skull during the first surgery and we should be able to go home that same day! The doctors were pleased with her progress and said that she was looking good. Our major prayer right now is that the helmet molds her head successfully as it can only be worn until 14 or 15 months and then it has no affect. So we only have a few months left with the helmet which is exciting and scary at the same time. If her head shape is still off we'd be looking at a 3rd surgery when she's 2 or so. Of course we'd also love prayers for Monday's surgery to be safe, successful and a quick recovery. Love and thanks to you all!
