August 11th 2018, the New Moon will not only be in the regal sign of Leo, but we will also be treated to the final eclipse in a series of 3.
For this New Moon in Leo, there will be a partial solar eclipse. A partial solar eclipse occurs when the Earth moves between the Sun & Moon but they don’t form a straight line, thus, only a small part of the Moons surface is covered by the darkest, central part of the Earth shadow - the umbra.
It’s important to note that solar eclipses only happen during the new moon when both the Sun & Moon are in the same astrological sign, thus, making it a very significant time to heed the lessons of that sign - particularly if it’s dominant in your natal chart.
During this time, you’re going to want to practise & indulge in a little self care, as this New Moon in Leo affects your heart - & not in a romantic way. Blood circulation, blood pressure & heart rate will all be extra sensitive - especially on the 11th.
The eclipse & new moon is quincunx Pluto, conjunct retrograde Mercury & square to Jupiter. If we want to get along & play nice we’ve got to allow others & ourselves to come out of the shadows. The problem with Jupiter is that there is a tendency to dramatize, making a dramatic Leo impact Pluto. What is said now may come back to bite some later (Mercury retrograde), especially, if we make promises we can’t keep.
The eclipse time that began around mid July created an extremely powerful portal of opportunity for change, maturity & tremendous growth. Celebrate this New Moon & set your intentions based on your insights of the past few weeks.
Now, setting intentions based on insights may be some sound advice, but the precarious balancing act between setting intentions for the future & feeling mired in the dark and twisty present could make it difficult for you to see the bigger picture. The Super New Moon energy will have pretty much everyone putting their foot in their mouth, which might make things feel more tenuous than they actually are. Thus, your actions may not match the situation - & Taurus, Leo, Scorpio & Aquarius will feel the effects of the Super New Moon & partial solar eclipse more than other signs. If you were born under either of the signs mentions above, you’re going to want to exercise a little restraint before expressing yourself.
Mercury conjunct the solar eclipse reinforces the creative, strategic intelligence of asteroid Pallas.This eclipse will make you think and question, discuss, & deliberate. However, Mercury retrograde complicates all negotiations & decisions. It can play havoc with your thoughts, communications, travels, & electronics. Take extra care with your words & try not to react too quickly in any arguments or if provoked.
Political tensions could also increase during this time. Secrets will be exposed & reputations will be destroyed. Pluto rules large political movements & multinational corporations - so there will be political & social changes that increase tensions for some but make things better for others. There will also be a shift in the power balance between political parties, nations, & within the feminist movement.
New moons represent fresh starts and beginnings, while full moons mark turning points, manifestations or closure. So it’s best to initiate a project or plant those seeds at a new moon. Again, make sure you set aside some time to set your intentions - you’ll be glad you did it later.
