Final Assignment-Justice Week 7-#7wk10A

In my opinion, justice is generally fairness. You treat other people fairly when you are about to make a decision that will represent justice. If you decide to make a decision that is just for you but not fair for others, than you have not represented justice. Instead you have represented injustice and selfishness. You have gone against justice and what is fair. People in this world do make decisions like that and those decisions cause other people to rebel and go against your decision, because what you decided wasn't fair for them. So if you don't want tomatoes, rubbish, and shoes thrown at your face, you better make a decision that is just. And by just I mean fair. Now before the start of this project, my view was as it is now. I always viewed justice as something that means fairness to other people. Hopefully my view will stay that way. Now when I had gotten my first justice assignment on tumblr, i asked myself, "What could justice be other than fairness? " And honestly, I couldn't think of a single thing. I kept on thinking about it and I ended up with nothing but the idea that justice is fairness. I kept on thinking why justice might not be fairness. I ended up with nothing. So that's why, my view on Justice was fairness and it still is.

I think that all grade 10 boys should understand and implement respect more then anything. Before modernisation respect was a very key ingredient to the welfare of our society and has proven its worth throughout many tests. This is a value that has become rusted and rugged out as time went on....

Reblog Week 7-#7wk10A I agree with Shaleen 's point of view about respect. People should learn to respect each other because it is one of the key things in the welfare of society. If people respect other people and the society, the society itself will become a respected society and the people in it will also be respectful. I also agree with the fact that respect indeed has become rugged over time. Now a days, children indeed do not sometimes respect their elders. And because of that, disrespect spreads throughout the family. After the family, that disrespect reaches out to other children and people. This causes disrespect to become something common among people. Now because of this, disrespect has spread throughout the world and most people don't respect each other and conflicts arise because of this. So respect indeed is very important in this world. It probably would never happen, but if respect is completely regained in this world, in my opinion, conflicts would completely cease to exist

Opinion on social media! Week 7-#7wk10A

Before doing this project, I thought that people used social media mostly for fun. Now another thing that they used it for was communication between families and friends, which is fine. Now what I thought they didn’t do was use social media for educative purposes. I thought that people mostly didn’t really want to chat with their friends on Facebook or browse the Internet just to learn something. But throughout this project, my view about this matter has indeed changed. I’ve learned that a lot of people do use social media for educative purposes. People use social media for researching about stuff that will help them out in school or etc.

Now some people do view social media as a negative affect. It does indeed affect people badly and there is no going against that. But the people who view social media as a bad thing should also consider that in can help out in educational ways. People can research about stuff they don’t know and they can use that information in their homeworks, projects, and even in their daily lives. With social media, people can convey information to one another and people can ask each other questions about a certain subject through social media. For example, a students ends up forgetting what the project was about. He can just email his friend to remind so that his friend can remind him what it was about or he can Skype him, if his friend is added. Because this student was able to contact his friend, he saved himself from getting a zero. There are many different ways social media can help out a person in his or her daily life. Without social media, I guarantee it that students would be getting really low marks if they weren’t allowed to use social media at all.

People who view social media as a bad influence are indeed right, but they should consider all the possibilities that are available to them through social media.

Answers Week 6-#6wk10A

I like tumblr because it is a quick and easy way to post and tell people about the latest news or etc. For example, you want the latest news from DC, you can just follow DC's blog. You want the latest news from Marvel, you can just follow Marvel's blog. So I basically l like tumblr because, for me, it's like a good news source. I can just check if there's anything new from a certain blog or if there's a new update or anything. I do prefer other sorts of social media because tumblr is kind of hard to use and it doesn't have chatting and stuff like that. You can't really talk to people that much and you can't share that much information. For example, on tumblr, you'll have to make a post that many people can see and not just the person you want to convey it to. But on other social medias, you can just say something to the person you want to talk to and others won't be able to see what you have said. Plus tumblr doesn't really let you communicate with distant friends or relatives. So yes I do prefer other social medias because you can do a lot more on other social medias rather than just start blogs and post stuff. Now for school assignments, tumble might just be the best one. I'm not sure there are other social medias that will be suitable for school work. In tumblr you can view other people's assignments and you can use them as a reference to help you out in your own homework. You can also show others your homework and compare yours to their's and determine whether or not your homework is right. So I believe that for schoolwork, tumblr is the best. I'm happy i got to do my homework/assignment on tumblr because I got to look at others' assignments and got to determine whether or not I was doing it the right way. So I definitely believe that the tumblr assignment was better than a normal journal writing. I think the assignment was good enough and I don't think there's anything I want to change for the next assignment.

Quote from The Piano Lesson Week 6-#6wk10

Avery: You got to put all that behind you, Bernice. That’s the same thing like Crawley. Everybody got stones in their pass way. You got to step over them or walk around them. You picking them up and carrying them up with you. All you got to do is set them down by the side of the road. You ain’t got to carry them with you.

In this quote, Avery Brown, a preacher, is trying to get Bernice to let go of Crawley and what had happened in the past. He is trying to help her get over it. He is trying to get her to move on in life. In this quote, Avery wants Bernice to look forward to the future and forget about the past so that she can lead a new life. This quote also teaches us a lesson.

The lesson that this quote teaches us is that there will be obstacles in our lives but we don’t have to let those obstacles stop us from good down our path in life. It is, sometimes, our decisions that make us feel like we’ve fallen, like we’ve been ruined and scarred for life. This quote is an example. It explains how Avery is trying to convince Bernice to let go of the events that took place in her life. Bernice has carried on Crawley’s death in her heart for a long time now and she hasn’t gotten over it, and because of that, she hasn’t at all been happy. Since she chose to never let go of Crawley, she has led a depressing life. She had never moved on in life. This quote teaches us not to do that. It teaches us to let go of the past and look forward to the future, because if we choose to hang onto our obstacles, we can never succeed in life. So we should always let go of the past and look towards to the future.

The Piano Lesson Week 6-#6wk10A

There were screams flying throughout the house as Boy Willie demanded that someone open the door. Doaker came over and opened the door for Boy Willie. Boy Willie entered the house with his friend Lyman. Boy Willie was thrilled to meet Doaker after three long years. Boy Willie told Doak how he and Lymon had come all the way from Mississippi to Pittsburgh in a truck full of watermelons. Boy Willie also told him how the truck kept on breaking down and because of that, it had taken them three days to get to Pittsburgh. After the explanations, Boy Willie started to call for Bernice, his sister. Doaker warned him that she wouldn't be too happy to see him after all that noise. Boy Willie ignored him and was persistent. In a few minutes Bernice came downstairs and asked him why he was making all that noise, for he had nearly waken up all the neighbors. As Doaker had said, she wasn't too happy to see him. Boy Willie, in return, was really glad to meet her after three long years and introduced her to Lyman. Lyman seemed to have showed a bit of an affection towards her😎. Bernice had felt nothing for the both of them and wanted them both to leave her house😠. Boy Willie told Bernice that they had come over to Pittsburgh so that they could sell all the watermelons that were in Lyman's truck. Bernice suspected they had stolen it and questioned Lyman upon her suspicion. Boy Willie made it clear to her that they hadn't stolen the truck. Instead Lyman had bought it so that he could hide from the sheriff. Bernice ordered them to leave her house but Boy Willie hadn't taken that as a nice way to say hi after three long years and told her to go back upstairs if she didn't want to talk to him, and started to call out Maretha's name, Bernice's daughter. Bernice stopped him right there and stood firm that she was not going to let him wake her up and headed back upstairs. As soon as she left Boy Willie told Doaker that he was going to sell the watermelons as well as the piano that had been in their family for quite a while now, in order to buy Sutter's land. Boy Willie showed Lyman the piano. Doaker told him that Bernice was not going to sell that piano becuase for her, it was sacred, since it had carvings of their family. Bernice also claimed that Mama Ola polished it every day and her blood was stained on the piano. Even Avery Brown, a preacher who had been trying to get Bernice to marry him, tried to get her to sell that piano so that he could start his church. In the end, Boy Willie was not convinced and told him that it would be better off sold, since the piano wasn't even used that much. Boy Willie asked Doaker about his brother, Wining Boy. Doaker told him that he had visited with a bag full of money but left because Bernice had asked him for three dollars. He told Boy Willie that he was a wanderer now and that he wouldn't be seeing Wining Boy again until he broke. All of a sudden, everyone heard a scream come from upstairs. It was Bernice. Boy Willie rushed upstairs and asked what had happened. Doaker had followed. Bernice claimed that she had seen Sutter's ghost who had called out Boy Willie's name. Bernice was now convinced that Boy Willie had pushed Sutter into the well. She also started accusing Boy Willie of Crawley's death. Boy Willie protested and claimed that if was not his fault Crawley died. He also started claiming that Sutter's ghost was just a part of Bernice's imagination. Bernice got up and headed upstairs to wake up Maretha.

They want it to be fair for the migrants, and fairness is my view of justice. In justice, you always want to be fair to everyone because fairness is the main factor of justice, and people are mainly happy with the way justice is today. And since they're happy with justice, they're mainly happy with fairness. So basically, in the article above, fairness is being called for and that will make the Jesuit Provincials and the migrants happy, because since they're rights and freedoms are being respected, they are being treated fairly. So justice makes people happy mainly when it is fair for all of them.

Mediums Week 5-#5wk10A

If I were to choose two mediums for The Piano Lesson, then those two mediums would be either a movie/film or a comic book. The piano Lesson is a good book and if it were to be turned into either one of the two above, it would be way more interesting with pictures and expressions on the character's faces which would tell you what their mood is. If The Piano Lesson would become a movie or a comic book, then the reader would be way more interested and the story would fell more life like and not just plain old words. With pictures or videos, the characters of The Piano Lesson can be way more expressive and the story would become way more interesting. This could be a huge improvement or step up for some scenes specifically. One example in the book is when, in the end, Sutter's ghost starts taking some action. Stuff starts moving and he keeps on throwing Boy Willie back down stairs. If this were a comic or movie, them this part would feel more horrific. So with a movie or a comic, the story would become way more interesting and expressive. The reader would feel more emotions and he/she would be more excited to read the book or watch the movie.

One book that I have read that has been turned into a movie is The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as a book was really interesting but not as expressive as the movie. Now the book had a lot more details than the movie. Way more details. In fact, the book had so many details that I was pretty much surprised. It had explained so much more. I had understood the story so much more. But obviously the movie was more fun because there were moving characters as well as expressions with a lot of emotions. All that combined made the movie a lot more fun, even if I didn't have as much as an understanding as I did after I had read the book. So the Hunger Games: Catching Fire as a book was a lot more detailed but as a movie, a lot more fun.

REBLOG Week 5 -#5wk10A

I agree with Amr's point of view of how social media helps family and friends keep in touch. When social media didn't exist, people used to send letters far away and it would take a long time for the letters to reach their destinations. So basically it was really hard to keep in touch with people. But now with social media people can just communicate with each other within a matter of minutes. They can talk to their families and friends. They can keep in touch with them really easily and they can know what's going on in their lives really easily and really quickly.

QUOTE FROM PIANO LESSON Week 4-#4wk10A

Bernice: All I know is Crawley would be alive if you hadn’t come up there and got him. Boy Willie: I ain’t had nothing to do with Crawley getting killed… Bernice: Crawley’s dead… He went off to load some wood with you and ain’t never come back. Boy Willie: I told you woman… I ain’t had nothing to do with… Bernice: He ain’t here, is he? He ain’t here!

This part of the book or this quote shows injustice. It shows how Bernice is accusing Boy Willie of something he wasn’t responsible for, Crawley’s death. This clearly represents injustice because when you decide what’s right or what’s wrong, you listen to both sides of the story. Bernice, in this scene, isn’t listening to what Boy Willie has to say. She’s only concentrating on what she knows, but she isn’t ready to listen to Boy Willie. This is injustice and it’s unfair for Boy Willie because he’s being blamed for something he didn’t do. That’s injustice and unfair. Justice is all about deciding something that is fair for everyone by listening to both sides of the story and coming to a conclusion. But over here, Bernice is doing the exact opposite of that so justice is not being achieved.

Justice Week Four -#4wk10A

This image shows justice which I believe is fairness. Justice is mainly shown at the end of the book, when Bernice and Boy Willie come to terms with each other. When Bernice plays the piano to chase Sutter's ghost away by calling out the souls of their ancestors, Boy Willie realises that this piano really is more important than being sold for the sake of money or some land. Bernice also comes to terms with Boy Willie. She realises that it really is important to play the piano rather than having it lie around. Since Boy Willie had come to terms with Bernice, it would only seem fair that she do the same. This shows justice because they both do what would seem fair to the both of them. Not only do they think on their own terms, but they also think about what would seem fair to both of them. They think on each on other's terms. This is kind of a home-based justice, not the normal public justice, but it is justice, and to me justice is all about fairness. They both end up being fair to each other and in my opinion, this is where justice is shown.

Actors Week Four -#4wk10A

My first character would be Doaker, and I would choose Chris Gardner to play his role. I would choose him to play Doaker's role because Doaker in the book seems to know what it is like to go through the trouble of being an African American. He seems to be wise and seems to have experience of all of that kind of trouble. Chris Gardner is no actor, but he has had those troubles in his time and he can express that in a movie, just like Doaker can. He can show that he has had that hard life and he has become a different person through those hardships, and Doaker shows that so that is why I would choose Chris Gardner as an actor for Doaker.

My second character would be Boy Willie. I would choose Will Smith because through what I've seen of him and his personality, I think he can be a match for Boy Willie. Boy Willie in the book is somewhat like an easy going person who doesn't worry too much about what he has to do. Will Smith has that kind of personality, from what I've seen, and I think he can express Boy Willie quite well if he were to act as Boy Willie on Piano Lesson.

My third character would be Wining Boy. I would choose Morgan Freeman to play Wining Boy's role because Wining Boy in the book is the type that doesn't really care about his life, but at the same time is a bit greedy and really cares about money. Wining Boy is the character who, for me, has a personality of someone who doesn't care what he's gonna do and as long as he has money, he doesn't really need anything else or anyone else, even though he had a place for that piano in his heart. I think Morgan Freeman is the right man for the job because through what I've seen of him, I think he can act out just about any kind of character. But the reason I chose him to be Wining Boy and not just any other character in The Piano Lesson, is because not only can he act out Wining Boy's personality perfectly, but he can also physically fit the description of Wining Boy, and I say this because from what I've read of Wining Boy in the book, I can picture Wining Boy in my head as well as Morgan Freeman acting out Wining Boy, and they would be a perfect match.

How Social Media Helps Week Three -#3wk10A

Social media has changed the world greatly. It has benefited people greatly. One of the main things that have been provided to people through social media is communication with each other. People before had to send letters to the people they wanted to communicate with. It was hard and it would take a long time to reach out to them. But now, through technology and social media, people have now gained the means to communicate with each other or have whole conversations with family members within few minutes. So one of the great advantages that we have gained through social media is that we can communicate with our families or friends,that are like on the other side of the world, within a few minutes.

Another benefit that we have gained from social media is that we can now have knowledge of what is going on around the world. Knowing about international affairs is now a lot easier with the social media. People, friends, and families can always tell you what's happening here and there. You can know about this event or that crisis through social media because any of your relatives or fiends will know about it. At least one of them will know something about it. So now, you can catch up on worldly or international affairs really quickly through social media, because the internet is not your only source.

Another great advantage of social networking is that now you can trade information. Whether it is related to school, or something related to your job. You can now communicate with a person and give him or ask for information really quickly. So in a way, you can say that social media is like a source of information. Who says social media is not an educative source?

Week Three -#3wk10A

I agree with Taha's point of view. When someone does something that clearly shows injustice, others will always think about doing it themselves. Others will always be like "Oh if he's doing it than I should do it to." What ever you do will encourage other people to do the same. They will think, what makes you so different from them that they can't do it? If you're doing it, they will also do it at some point in their lives. They will always say "oh no one's around to judge my actions or anything, its not like any ones looking, I'll just do it." And when this person ends up doing the same bad thing, some one will see him and be like "Hey this is a free country, two people have already done it than why not me?" So even a little amount of injustice can later on spread and be a threat to justice. But that doesn't mean justice can't fight back.

This Article shows my idea of justice. My idea of Justice is fairness. This article shows that because it talks about how Justice and Fairness are the two most common words when it comes to deciding what is right. This article talks about how, when people have to make a decision that clearly shows justice, they have to look at what is fair for others and what is right for them. When a Judge makes his decision in the court, he also has to look at what the people might say. Does his decision show justice or injustice? Is it fair for other people? Does it satisfy them? So when a person makes a decision that should represent Justice, they should think about what would be fair for other people or what would not be fair. This article clearly talks about my idea of justice.

I think other people should agree with my point of view because when, let's say for example, you're the judge in the court. You are the person who has to bring down justice on the criminal. But what is justice when you can't even make a decision that is a hundred percent fair for others? What's the point? You're not showing justice if its not fair for others. So the main component that makes up justice is fairness. You can't be like "Oh I'm going to make a decision that totally shows justice but isn't fair for others." That's not justice at all because you only looked at your opinion. When it comes to making a decision of justice, you don't only look at what your opinion about the situation is, you look at others' opinions. You don't only look at what is fair for you, you look at what's fair for others. Once you've done that, you make a decision that is fair to everyone, not just you. So that's why I think everyone should agree with my point of view because you can't make a decision that shows justice but isn't fair to others. That's injustice. Those are my reasons for why others should agree with my point of view.

I chose this picture as a cover for The Piano Lesson because it shows that the book has something to do with a piano or the main conflict is over a piano, and indeed the main conflict of this book was over a piano. So this cover summarizes what the book is mainly about. This cover not only shows what the story is about, but it also gives you a hint about how the story might use this piano to make the story revolve around something like a family conflict or etc. It gives you a hint about what type of conflict might occur in the story because of this piano.

I chose this quote because it clearly expresses my idea of justice. I think that justice is fairness and equality. This quote says that it doesn’t matter what kind of problem a person has, wether it is big or small, because the person or the people that have this certain problem are equal and should be treated equally and fairly. So this quote expresses that all people have equal rights and they are all the same, and nothing can change that.
