Coffee lovers have many reasons for drinking a cup (or two) of brew. From "I can't start my day without it" to "I like holding something warm in my hands" there are as many reasons for drinking coffee as there are people. It doesn't matter the brand although many would argue against this statement. The point I am trying to make is that it involves having an experience. I drink coffee because it involves an experience. I do not like to rush it at all. Taking my time is inportant and that is why I enjoy it most on a quiet Sunday morning. Here's to all those coffee lovers! Enjoy your cup (or two).

Dance

I have always danced.  Since I was a baby, my mother says that I loved to move my feet.  I must have gotten that trait from her because all my life I've seen her dance.  In the kitchen, while she cooked, she always had music playing.  Her hips moved and swayed constantly to salsa and cumbia.  As she drove our car, she moved her shoulders and tapped her ring fingers on the steering wheel.

Stop Pretending

Thanks to Scott McLeod who started this “Stop Pretending in Education.”

Here is my list:

When it comes to education, we have to stop pretending ...

1. That the arts can be done in 40 minute periods once a week or only afterschool.

2. Learning a second (or third, or fourth ... you get my point) language can only be done in Europe or in private schools.

3. Teachers are the only ones who should teach.  

4. Learning only happens in a (class)room with 4 walls.

5. Schools put children first.

Clowns.  I think people have many misconceptions about clowns.  It comes from a deep desire to make people smile and laugh.  Simply put, being a clown is serving others.  By the way, this is me in 2004 in Englewood, NJ.

Sacred spaces. Do you have a sacred space in your home? This is my sacred place. It has all the things I need to remind me of my purpose. Here I can pray. Here I can look for wisdom and encouragement. Here I connect with my past. Here I am present. Here I can ask for things I need for the future. Here I see my relationship with God and with my loved ones in my life. Here I lay objects that inspire, motivate, comfort, and love me no matter in what condition I find myself. Morning. Noon. Night. It is my sacred space.
