Abby nodded. “I’m really happy for you, Davina,” she stated, giving her a genuine bright smile. “But I need to be heading out. I have a hungry werewolf still asleep at home and he’s not very cute when he’s whining about his stomach so I should get back to him,” she explained, the smile not leaving her face despite the complaint. “We should catch-up sometime soon though!”

"Fuck," Abigail muttered as she fumbled with her keys, unable to open the door. She rested her forehead against the cool surface, needing to take a second or two to calm down. Her eyes closed and she took a deep breath, tensing when Nate’s scent flooded her nose somewhere in her apartment. What would he think?

She was broken out of her thoughts by a loud bark, followed by a stream of them. It broke her heart knowing exactly what was driving Scrappy on edge. Her scent... She wasn't herself anymore. As far as Scrappy was concerned, she was a dangerous stranger. Abigail quickly pushed herself off the door before attempting to open it again, her shaky hands only barely managing the feat but she got inside nonetheless.

The first thing she did was kneel down so that Scrappy could recognize her. "Hey, boy..." she cooed, holding out her hand. He was hesitant at first, but the moment he figured out it was her, he immediately leapt into her arms and attacked her with unending licks. The action made her smile and she held the dog close to her, needing his fluffy comfort. No matter what happened, she would have Scrappy by her side.

She looked up when Nate approached, very conscious of how she looked right now. Her usual pristine appearance was replaced by messy hair, dirtied and blood stained clothes, and her scent was reflective of what she now was: a vampire. Or a hybrid to be completely accurate.

She let go of Scrappy and ran to Nate, wrapping her arms around him before burying her face into his chest. She needed this. He could hate her later but she needed someone to hold her and reassure her that everything was going to be fine.

davina laughed, more than anything she wished that no one had ever needed to save her from a blind date. but now that things were the way they were she was glad kol had came when she called him. ”it was really a disaster,” davina hummed, ”i needed someone who’d make me feel safe and no matter what no one makes me feel any safer than kol does.” the brunette stated firmly, a soft smile on her lips. ”i think you’re one of the first people who tell me i’m lucky to have kol. personally i’d say you’re absolutely right, i am lucky.”

“Love is an awesome thing. I’d consider anyone who found such a deep one, like the one between you and Kol, super lucky. As long as he treats you well, he’s okay in my books.” Of course there were exceptions to that rule but surely someone Davina approves of was a good guy, right? He couldn’t possibly be a psychopathic serial killer.

“So, anything new going on with your life?”

with a grateful smile davina dropped back down onto the balls of her feet no longer stretching up. “thank you,” she said, taking the cereal box that abigail offered to place in her cart before she looked up at the woman again. that grateful smile that lingered on her lips immediately turned giddy as abigail mentioned kol, and davina nodded, ”we are, he saved me from a disastrous blind date a friend from school put me up to, and we started talking again and he asked if i wanted to come to his crypt and we drank a little and talked and i suggested we’d try to be friends but there was an accidental kiss and it kind of escalated… davina trailed off, blush rising on her cheeks, ”we’re definitely going to hell for what we did there.”

Abigail practically squealed when she heard what happened. “That’s so exciting!” Truthfully, she was always a romantic at heart and their reunion was incredibly reminiscent of a ‘white knight’ kind of scenario that always made Abigail’s heart swoon, despite her strong insistence that women didn’t need men to save them. “I’m jealous. I never had anyone to save me from disastrous blind dates. My friends tried to set me up with an artist once. I don’t think I’ve ever been more awkward in my life. I couldn’t keep up with the conversation at all.” She cringed thinking of that experience. The guy was way too intense for her. “I mean, there’s only so much name dropping of fancy old guys that I can take. You definitely lucked out.”

davina smiled at abigail as she handed her the box, a chuckle falling from her lips, ”generally used for throwing people around a bit more haphazardly.” the brunette explained almost sheepishly shrugging her shoulders. “i’ve been… it’s been good, really good actually for a change.”

Abigail immediately grinned knowing that Davina’s life had been looking up. “That’s great! I’m guessing that means you and Kol are back together?” She was really happy for her friend. With all the wretched people in this city that misery could have targeted, Davina was not at all deserving of it’s attention. “How did it happen?”

there’s something inherently weird about people’s attitudes to karma. no one thinks they deserve the bad version, but they all personally think they deserve the good. davina was certain no matter what she reserved it wasn’t the grocery store deciding to move her brand of cereal to the top shelf for no apparent reason. ”this is ridiculous.” the witch huffed, head tilted back as she looked up towards the shelf.

“Here, let me help,” Abigail offered, giving Davina a large grin as she reached for the box that the girl was practically burning with her eyes. “Don’t you guys have some magical telekinesis thing?” she teased, passing the box to her friend before grabbing her own and placing it in her cart. Abby’s was filled to the brim and part of her wondered how that had even happened. Nate had all but moved in at this point (not that it was discussed or they had any idea what they were) and feeding two werewolves meant unending groceries.

At least this had been the first time the girl had fully told him the truth. But the girl standing in front of him had become a threat to his family with that last sentence she worded. If she could turn in any moment she could be of real danger to Hayley, Hope or even his siblings. But what was he going to do with the young wolf? She had proven her loyalty by helping Hayley make a (stupid) decision. It was still a sign of her willingness to help and they all needed that most now.

Klaus had calmed down as he observed the girl yet again. His first instinct of her being peaceful and of no harm had turned out to be wrong, yet true at the same time. ‘’ I can’t have you be anywhere near here again, UNDERSTOOD?– Do not contact Hayley face to face anymore’’ he could not explain as to why she couldn’t contact Hayley anymore because he did not know if the hollow was listening but he knew himself that Hayley was their only hope. If anything happened to her they all would be screwed. ‘’You will answer to me and me only from now on’’ he could deal with a rogue wolf if he had to and she could be a real asset in defeating the hollow. They had, at least, the same enemy.

Abigail immediately nodded. She definitely had no intentions of returning to the Mikaelson compound any time soon. She had received one of those supernatural invites to their ball but decided to sit it out, not needing the stress of being surrounded by volatile vampires and witches everywhere. She wasn’t quite as sure about the whole not seeing Hayley face-to-face anymore, but Klaus was leaving little room for argument.

His last demand though? She shook her head. “It doesn’t work that way.” Abigail helped Hayley as a small favour and Hayley knew that there was a risk Abby would have no choice but to double-cross her. “The bracelet compels me to listen to whatever the Hollow says. Unless… unless you know how to counter the spell, I can’t promise any kind of loyalty to you,” she explained. While she wasn’t willing to break free before, she had finally discovered the other team and believed that they were more humane than the Hollow, despite Klaus’ current behaviour.

“I don’t… I don’t want to serve her, I have no choice.”

Nate was sound asleep; for once not suffering from waking up several times throughout the night. The last thing he wanted to do was wake up, but unfortunately Abby seemed to have other plans. Nate furrowed his brow and groaned, but the mention of work had his eyes snapping open and his heart rate increased. He had to consider; DID he work today? But as his mind slowly woke up and began to work like a normal person, he remembered he indeed had the day off.

Relaxing a bit Nate turned himself over and burrowed his face against the pillow he was using, letting out a groan. “No.” His voice muffled by the pillow. “No work, just sleeps.”

As Abigail watched him, she had to control the urge to lean forward kiss him (maybe not on his lips but somewhere comforting). There was something about his stress free, relaxed face that made him look rather beautiful and his grogginess was undeniably cute.

When he answered in the negative, she smiled, glad to know that Nate wasn’t in a rush to leave. She liked the comfort of having him around and couldn’t remember the last time she woke up with someone. It was a nice change from her usual lonely greeting to her empty apartment (Scrappy was basically a part of her so he didn’t count as company).

“Well, I have to give Scrappy his morning walk but I’ll fetch us some breakfast on the way back,” she explained, giving into her urge and placing a small kiss on his shoulder before rolling out of bed and stretching. She quickly got changed and was out of her apartment in minutes.

After about an hour, she returned, coffee and an actual breakfast in hand. Of course there were a few donuts thrown in, but she figured Nate would want something a bit more substantial than her usual rushed go-to. “Honey, I’m home!” she teased, dropping everything on the counter. The moment Scrappy was unleashed, he bounded towards Nate, tackling him in cool morning doggy freshness.

‘‘ I don’t do well with LIARS’’ he shouted, aggrivated at how Hayley was naive enough to trust a wolf working for the Hollow. Klaus did not want to realise that Abigail had tried to help Hayley, all he wanted to hear was the first part. ‘’I’m afraid I can’t have you strolling around in town now, love’’ if the girl had been honest all along Klaus still would have had the urge to capture her. She was the one person he knew (aside from Lucy) that was this close to the enemy. He wasn’t going to let her leave. ‘’HOW did you help Hayley? WHY did you help her?– How am I supposed to know it’s not controlling you right now?’’ all these questions haunting Klaus.

Abigail immediately flinched and instinctively took a step back. She knew she couldn't run but forcing her into a corner was only going to make things messy. She looked away and clenched her fists, her eyes glowing for second before she reigned it in. Abby hated fighting but no amount of lifelong anger management stopped the animal inside of her from wanting to break free and protect her from immediate threats.

Klaus Mikaelson was definitely a threat.

"S-She wanted me to lead the Hollow to her so that she could capture her. I-I told her that it was a bad idea but she wouldn't... she refused listen to me. I did as she asked." As far as Abigail was concerned, she did exactly what Hayley wanted. "I helped her because I want to be free of the Hollow." Unlike some of the Hollow's followers, Abigail wasn't interested in power or strength. She was just unfortunate enough to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

She finally looked up. “You can’t trust me because I can’t trust myself.” With a simple spell, the Hollow could force her to shift at any time and she would be a raging monster the moment it happened.

“I was a sports star.” He grumbled. “…with the occasional acting class. And maybe a play or musical or two.” He wasn’t helping himself at all but he was dang PROUD of his accomplishments in school. Unfortunately it all went downhill after. Now that he’s a boring waiter, and fucking werewolf.

Nate tensed when Abby got all comfortable against him. Because he’s suddenly a stupid virgin teenager or something with a crush? He was embarrassed at himself, really. This was totally fine, normal, cool- just chilling with a friend of the opposite gender who likes to cuddle. No harm, right?

It was a slow process, but eventually Nate got himself to relax a bit more. He still kept his arms awkwardly crossed over his chest but he no longer looked grumpy.

Abigail didn’t miss how tense Nate was but elected to ignore it. He would relax eventually and she was being a bit too affectionate for this level of their friendship. Nevertheless, she enjoyed cuddling and it would have been awkward to dance around the topic in case either of them were a bit needy when they slept. Without Scrappy by her side, she knew she was going to be especially grabby.

For the first time in weeks, Abby had managed to fall asleep only moments after closing her eyes. When she woke up, her hair was all over her face and there was a nice solid body beside her that wasn’t dying to lick her face. She yawned and pulled herself away from Nate, doing her best not to disturb him. She should probably be a good host and get up to make them breakfast but she was lazy and it was awfully comfortable in her warm bed.

She looked over at the clock on her nightstand and noticed the time. Nate never told her if he was working today so she figured she’d ask, just in case. “Natey, Nate, Naters,” she called, gently shaking the boy beside her. “Do you have work today?”

Nate finally got himself situated on the bed when he was basically forced to. Okay maybe not ‘forced’ exactly but still. “I- okay, that’s fair but you underestimate what uh- you know what lets just not talk about my sex life.”

Okay now Abby was backing him into a corner and he was not about to make things a hundred times worse for himself. “Okay- no- nu-uh, I am NOT about to fall for you trap Abigail Marks.” Either he would be forced to embarrass himself by admitting any sort of attraction to his friend, or make an ass by denying such a thing. There was no way he could win, so instead he slouched against the back of the bed rest with his arms crossed, pouting as he stared at the Netflix browse screen on Abby’s computer.

“I respect you and I respect women and I am not having this conversation with you.”

Abby rolled her eyes. “Gosh, you’re so dramatic. Were you a theatre kid? I bet you were a theatre kid.” She didn’t mean anything by her comment but it was pretty funny and cute how awkward Nate was getting around her.

“Now am I allowed to cuddle with you or is that disrespecting you, Mr. Feminist?” she teased. She honestly loved that he was such a gentleman and was so damn sweet all the time. It made it really easy to tease him.

Regardless of his response, she stretched before getting herself comfortable, snuggling against his body.

Nate assumed they would be watching Netflix on the couch. He wasn’t quite sure what to think when Abigail brought him to her room.

Standing there in the doorway Nate awkwardly fiddled with his cup of hot chocolate, his humble self unsure of what to do. “I uh- really, the couch is-” Okay the look he got from Abby was a little intimidating so he ended up stepping into her room and making his way to the opposite side of the bed, carefully placing his mug down.

“This is really sweet and all but I’m perfectly okay with couch sleeping-” He didn’t want to give off the wrong impression or anything. This wasn’t quite what he meant when he asked to crash here. He could only assume Abby’s intentions were innocent though. Is this really that bad of an idea? The bed did look kinda comfortable after all.

“Okay, look, just to clear the air- I didn’t come over to sleep with you. I mean- I’ll sleep with you, but like- literally. Not uh-” He really REALLY hoped Abby understood what he meant without him needing to actually say it.

Abby crossed her arms and cocked her head to the side as she watched Nate attempt to explain what he viewed this situation as. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes before grinning and pulling him onto the bed with her. “If we were going to have sex, I would have invited you onto my bed a lot differently, Nate,” she stated, giving him a ‘seriously?’ look. “I definitely wouldn’t still be fully clothed either.” She didn’t know what kind of sex he was having but none of this exactly screamed sexy.

“But it’s great to know you don’t want to have sex with me though. You sure know how to make a girl feel attractive,” she teased, shaking her head before opening her laptop and browsing to Netflix. She wasn’t actually offended or anything. She saw Nate as a cool friend. He was definitely attractive but Abigail didn’t really have any ulterior motives when pursuing his friendship.

if klaus did not have any suspicion towards the girl before, he most certainly did now. having a bracelet with that purpose was something quite normal, so why did her heart beat faster, as if she became nervous, scared even? ‘’ A family heirloom, that’s surprising–’’ he said. ‘’ Usually, these need to be bound specifically by the blood of the wolf in order for them to actually WORK on it ’’ he was improvising, not entirely sure if what he said was true but he simply wanted a reaction from the girl. ‘’ Now, it’s time to STOP playing games and start talking’’

Abigail just stood there frozen as he unpacked her lie and took a step back when he demanded the truth. Somehow, she didn’t think she’ll be getting out of this one unscathed. She sighed and bowed her head, not really wanting to look the man in the eye out of fear of what she’d see. “The Hollow has been running around capturing wolves to do her bidding,” she explained, her fingers going down to the bracelet again. “She forced these thingys on us that allows her to control and command us.” She looked up before immediately continuing, “I explained that to Hayley and she wanted me to help her so I did.”

The number one rule of trying to keep something from someone, or hide something, was to act like it wasn’t of any importance. And even though Klaus had not been a gifted witch (since he was a hybrid) he did live alongside magic for centuries.

it had not occurred to Klaus before that Abigail had played with the bracelet nervously. But, once he had observed her he had spotted the thing he could tell was definitely not of this time. These type of bracelts were souly used by certain witches. that much he knew from experience.

‘‘What have you got there?’’ his eyes pointing at the bracelet. ‘’It looks rather old’’ since Abi had told him that she was a new wolf, Klaus wondered how she was in possession of such an old bracelet. it seemed unnatural for a girl like her. but he didn’t think anything else of it (just that Abigail must have gotten it from someone powerful enough, since these type of bracelets were mostly used for darker spells).

Abigail tensed and looked down at her bracelet, immediately ripping her hand away from it. “It’s… It’s nothing,” she dismissed, her heart rate picking up. “Just a family heirloom…” Abby had always been a terrible liar and it really didn’t help that this man made her extra nervous. “It, uh, it lets me access my powers while I’m not, y’know, a wolf.” Maybe a bit of truth would help pacify him a bit?

Enzo laughed softly as he realized he gave the wrong impression of the city. “Oh no, I do like it so far. Whether I’ll come to dislike it someday remains to be seen, but it’s been alright thus far. I’m not sure what brought me here to begin with, though I did stay because of how lively it seems to be around here. It’s quite the change from the town I used to live in.” He probably would’ve left eventually, but considering someone very important to him lived here now, Enzo wouldn’t be leaving any time soon.

“And what of your impression of New Orleans? Although a couple of weeks isn’t much, I’m sure you have a stance as to what you think of it.”

Abigail was glad to see that someone liked the city without seemingly relishing in the craziness of it all. He was probably the first decent vampire she’s run into. “Considering I can’t turn a single corner without smelling blood, I can’t say I like it much,” she confessed, shrugging her shoulders. “No offence to your kind or anything but, well…” She didn’t really know how to explain it. “They are more... open here and I’m not sure that’s a good thing.”
