Out walking a dog yesterday when I stepped right into a dilemma. On the corner in this nice neighborhood was this cute house with a "choose life" poster in the front yard. I resigned myself to not speak to whom ever might come wondering out, a little old lady with blue hair and a collection of rosaries, a starched house wife whose to wrapped up in the existence of her children that she lost the ability to value the people that they have become. It was neither. In the driveway was a fat, like 300 pds fat, older man...shirtless. He said hello and already decidedly to not engage I walked past him as if his giant, gross presence did not exist. I felt as if I was letting an opportunity go. What I should have done was turn around and said "Sir put your shirt on, it's inappropriate to look like that." I have never understood why men feel the need to take their shirts off, whether in shape or not. When a woman pulls out a breast to feed her child she is harassed but yet our society says "men we get it, you are a little hot go ahead take your shirt off. " It is not just a double standard. It is an allowance that we need to either take back or give to women. That man doesn't care about life, he cares about controlling women. He should be able to act however he wants. I should have found my voice.
