Narcissa kept her head high and her footsteps steady as she made her way down the main stretch of Diagon Alley, even though she was both annoyed and unsettled by the vendors all of the makeshift stalls that had popped up on the street selling talismans and other ‘protections’ from Dark Magic. The vendors kept calling out to her, and her nose wrinkled as one of them tried to convince her to buy an amulet to protect her ‘pretty face’. Her hand twitched as if longing to pull out her wand and send a hex their way, but Narcissa Black could never be accused of being impulsive. She’d always had an iron tight control over her temper, quite unlike Bellatrix these days, and even more, she knew what was becoming behavior of a young woman of her station, so she kept on walking, keeping her gaze fixed on the door of Madam Malkin’s, where she was picking up a set of new dress robes for an event.
Turning her mind away from her annoyance and towards her mental checklist, Narcissa made a plan for how to get through this Diagon Alley trip as quickly as possible. Pick up her robes, drop by the florist to make sure her weekly order for the Black family manor was all set, and stop by the Leaky Cauldron to get a bottle of elf-made wine she intended to bring to the party. She was so focused on this little list (and trying to ignore the shady vendors) that she hadn’t been paying much attention to what was going on around her, and as she turned towards the door to Madam Malkin’s, she narrowly avoiding colliding with someone. “Excuse me,” she said a little snappishly, her dislike of being caught off guard creeping into her tone.
