Ironically given Mike Judge’s politics, the actual meaning of “idiocracy” is about as close to “individualism” as Ancient Greek can get. “Idio-” means “individual, private”—seen also in “idiosyncracy”. Idiotes literally means “private citizen”, but in I think the Hellenistic period it shifted to mean “untrained layman”, and from there it was a short step to “stupid person”.

I’m reblogging again because I did it myself and added pictures for those who have trouble learning from the video.
First take a standard rectangular piece of paper (I used one from a small notebook which I ripped out then cut the holes off)
Then fold in half touching the shorter side to the opposite shorter side.
Fold again making the new shorter side touch the other new shorter side
I did this one more time, but this time I unfolded it right after to get back to where it was only folded twice. It should have left a crease in the paper.
Using this crease, fold the corners up alongside it to look like this
This are also going to be unfolded, but this time you’re going to push in alongside the triangular folds you just made and undid.
Doing this once will result in this

Do the other side of you haven’t already to get this
You’ll open these newly created flap to change which parts are touching
Leaving you with this
Then you start pulling the top “tabs” down
Do both sides to get the final folded form
Decorate as desired.

I wish everyone would admit that classic literature is inherently difficult to read, and that you shouldn’t feel stupid if you don’t “get it”. Especially the dark academia/ classic lit fandoms and stuff. Like unless you have the vocabulary and pop culture knowledge of an 18th century nobleman, it’s going to be a tough read. It’ll take you longer to read; you’re not stupid if you’ve spent several months on a single book! And you don’t have to enjoy everything. It’s okay if you got bored after one chapter of Wuthering Heights, and couldn’t be bothered to read the rest. It’s okay if you want to read your favourite kids book for the 10th time instead. You’re not stupid. No piece of literature is inherently better, more “important”, more “meaningful”, or more “intellectual” than another. First and foremost, read what brings you joy.
i honestly don’t think authors grasp the effect dark haired, morally grey characters have on their readers. like i mean they can literally kill a man and most of us will still be here like

i literally can’t stop thinking abt that richard siken quote where he falls to the floor crying but all he can focus on is the details of the wall in front of him

I don't know about the rest of you but personally no plot twist or character death will ever cause me as much emotional torment as William Herondale and James Carstairs both living happy, fulfilling lives with the woman they love but not being allowed to be together and spending every moment of their lives wishing they could share it with their parabatai.
