An MP3 Player Shreds on Guitar in Joywave’s “DESTRUCTION” (Premiere) | Nerdist

It's time Guitar Hero engineers rethink their game. Humans aren't the only ones who can shred. Indie pop act Joywave dropped its debut album, How Do You Feel Now?, in April of 2015, but the group's brand of allusive, self-aware rock will have you thinking it has been around for much longer than that. Granted, the Rochester, NY-based band does have two EPs and two mixtapes to its name in addition to the full-length album, but it's that very LP that saw us fall head over heels. Now, Joywave is setting out to tour America, and with that news comes a brand new music video to remind us why we love that introductory record. Album cut "Destruction" sees some major obliteration, but not literally. Instead, the song is all about the mind-melting craze that spawns from one heck of a guitar solo. As per the story featured in the song and music video, after holding auditions for a new member, the band picks an MP3 player from the bunch based off its sick metal riffs and distortion pedals. The

Video Premiere: “Despite All Good Intentions” by Andrew St. James

Overlooking the shore in his video for “Despite All Good Intentions,” Andrew St. James creates a sound that is boundless as the ocean, filling up the surrounding space with refreshing, solid indie rock; the track bobs along effortlessly, sweetened by bright chimes and darkened by James’s impassioned lyrics. With vocals reminiscent of Mark Foster (James actually teamed up with Foster the People producer Jim Greer on his first album) “Despite All Good Intentions” comes from his second full-length album: 2014’s The Shakes. The Bay Area native is at work on this third LP, in the meantime, his mini West Coast will include a show with Modest Mouse and Cold War Kids on June 6 at the BFD festival.
