I’m currently making a few posts on here and I will be updating tonight. I am back!
The Smiley Face Killers
Starting at 1997 and stretching across eleven states from New York to Minnesota, more than three dozen waterlogged corpses that had been dredged from rivers and lakes and ponds.
In over a dozen of these cases which had been labeled “accidental drownings” a painted smiley face was found near the scene of the crime. Since many of these deaths occured in the same night, it is thought to be the work of a group of killers.
Herxheim Cannibals
In 2009 a construction crew in Herxheim, Germany containing the remains of what is estimated to be 1000 people dating back to around 5000BC. When a handful of bodies were examined at least 10 of these individuals showed cut and scrape marks which indicated they were butchered. Some of the bones had chew marks. Some had been smashed as if to get to the bone marrow. There were also other strange practices used on these people such as ribs being ripped from the spine, tongues cut out and flesh ripped off limbs. There is no evidence to suggest whether they were cooked or eaten raw, but markings on the remains suggest spit roasting.
Historians believe there was an agricultural collapse at this time so there would have been a lot of violence and upheavals.
Bestiarii
Among Ancient Romans, bestiarii were those who went against animals in combat. There are two categories of bestiarri: the first were those who chose to fight for pay or glory, or those who were condemned to death.
When used as a capital punishment, death by wild beasts was reserved for enemies of the state. This included those taken prisoner and slaves guilty of serious crimes. They would be sent to their death naked and without any way of defending themselves. If they did manage to kill the beast more animals would be sent in. It was rare for an unarmed person to kill one of the beasts, but the beasts would frequently kill numerous men.
Ling Chi
Ling chi also known as execution by slow cutting was practiced in China until it was outlawed in 1905.The criminal would be cut on various parts of the body such as the arms, legs and torso. After this they would be beheaded or stabbed in the heart.
Some accounts of the practice say that it could last for days. But they are mostly exaggerated.
One modern eyewitness report from Journalist and Politician Henry Norman, describes an execution thus:
The criminal is fastened to a rough cross, and the executioner, armed with a sharp knife, begins by grasping handfuls from the fleshy parts of the body, such as the thighs and the breasts, and slicing them off. After this he removes the joints and the excrescences of the body one by one-the nose and ears, fingers and toes. Then the limbs are cut off piecemeal at the wrists and the ankles, the elbows and knees, the shoulders and hips. Finally, the victim is stabbed to the heart and his head cut off.
"Murder is not about lust and it’s not about violence. It’s about possession."
Howard Dully during his 'ice-pick' lobotomy.
Worst ways to die - Immurement
Immurement is a form of imprisonment, usually for life, where the person is locked within an enclosed space which cannot be escaped from. An example of this is extremely tight confinement where the person is put inside a coffin. When used as a form of execution the person usually dies from dehydration or starvation.
In folklore, immurement is prominent as a form of capital punishment, but its use as a type of human sacrifice to make buildings sturdy has many tales attached to it as well. Skeletal remains have been, from time to time, found behind walls and in hidden rooms and on several occasions have been asserted to be evidence of such sacrificial practices or of such a form of punishment.
Capital punishment methods still in use:
Decapitation
Firing Squad
Electrocution
Gas Chamber
Hanging
Lethal Injection
Stoning
Boiled to Death
Richard Roose or Rouse was a cook for Bishop John Fisher. He was boiled to death after poisoning a soup that was served to the Bishop and 14 of his guests. The Bishop survived but some of the guests who had eaten the soup were not so lucky.
Anne Boleyn was quickly blamed for this because people thought and still think today that she bribed the cook to poison the Bishop of Rochester. There is no evidence to back up these claims and Henry VIII did not believe these claims.
Worst Ways to Die - Crushed by Elephant
Execution by Elephant was was a common method of capital punishment used in South and Southeast Asia as well as India. The elephants where trained to crush, torture and dismember their victims in public executions. The elephants would be employed by royalty and owning one would signify power and the ability to control animals.
Europeans who travelled in these areas usually wrote of how horrified they were in journals which would account their time travelling in Asia.
The practice was occasionally adopted by western powers such as Rome and Carthage, usually to deal with mutinous soldiers.
Worst Ways To Die - Scaphism
Scaphism or the boats was supposedly an ancient Greek method of execution that was particularly gruesome. The victim of this form of execution would be stripped nude and then fastened within the interior space of two narrow rowing boats. The victim would then be forced to drink milk and honey until they suffered from severe bowel movements and diarrhea, then more honey would be poured on the appendages and genitals to attract insects. They would then be left to float on a stagnant pond or left in the sun where they would be left defenseless. Their feces would accumulate which would attract more insects which would feast and breed within the exposed flesh which would become incredibly gangrenous. In some cases the feeding of the milk and honey would happen on a daily basis so the victim wouldn't die of starvation or dehydration. Eventually the victim would die from many different things including septic shock, starvation and dehydration.
Other versions of this included wasps which would be attracted to the honey and they would sting the victim many times.

This will be fairly short at the moment. But here it goes:
I run this blog on my own so I will try to make sure there are decent amounts of posts.
I will NEVER post screamers. I hate them and so does the rest of the world.
Some of the posts will definitely not be for the faint hearted so please don't read posts and then blame me for not being able to sleep at night.
I will try to post as much of my own research as possible. But I might reblog posts from other blogs.
If anything you read on this blog affects your mental health please unfollow me. Look after yourself kids.
I will add more to this as I go along. Thank you.
