MULTIMEDIA

We live in a period where multimedia is everywhere.

 We use multimedia on a regular basis and enjoy it. We spend time on watching videos on YouTube. We play computer games. We make slide presentations. We edit videos. There’s no denying that multimedia has greatly helped us especially in delivering information. It provides us entertainment for us to have fun and enjoy. Thus, we find the multimedia lesson interesting. 

We learned throughout the lesson that multimedia is also known as rich content because of the variety of ways it presents information. We learned the two categories of multimedia which are linear and nonlinear. We learned the types of multimedia such as multimedia presentation, multimedia games and simulations and multimedia navigation. We also learnt about embedded multimedia and its applications including advertisement, entertainment, education, and industrial.

BLOG

In the blog, we learned that we can share what we have learned about something as well as our experiences with others. 

We can also make money this way. It will also be easier to write or create a blog if it comes from our hearts, and by writing or creating a blog, other people may be able to relate to and be inspired by what we are going through.

 We can share the things we’ve gained via life experience with others through the blog. Sharing this knowledge with others in similar situations can be quite helpful. It’s a great way to share your opinions with the rest of the world without having to limit yourself to a single topic, as if we can consider of a blog as an online journal.

PHOTO MANIPULATION

Photo/Image manipulation is the art of modifying photos, we can create another image using other images.

 Manipulating an image is not easy because there are still guidelines to follow and applications to use. However, we will always remember that once we know how to manipulate an image, we can just do it with others because image manipulation is used to deceive others, and there it becomes bad. By doing a photo manipulation, it enhances our editing skills, the picture above is one of the example of photo manipulation, it was made by Ms. Shanley Jehiah Cruz.

To manipulate the image, there are a few basic techniques that can be employed. 

First here is Image Rendering, we learnt how to erase the background of a picture in order to use or put it on another picture. 

Second is the Proportion, we learnt how to measure an image here, as if it were taught here that the farther the image is placed, the better the result.

 Color mixing is the third step, and this is where we learned how to adjust the color to improve the outcome of your image manipulation.

 Fourth, there's an emphasis on detail; here, we learnt about picture selection, as if we need to pick a photo that can draw attention to the viewers.

 Lastly is Combining Multiple Images, we discovered how to choose the image that we would combine since the result will not be good if we just choose the images randomly. 

We must match the picture to the concept we have chosen because this is also a way for us to express to the viewers what we want to say in the manipulated Image.

VLOG

Vlogging is one of our Project in Empowerment Technology, it is form of blog but the difference is, it is not by writing, it is a video. 

 Vlog is combine of embedded video or a video link with supporting text, images, sounds and etc. We learned so much from this Project, we learned that we need to have a content first, and make sure we have a knowledge to different techniques of editing and have a good editor app to use. By doing this kind of project, it enhanced our editing skills and we learned the process of creating a YouTube channel which is fun, because we enter the world of vloggers which is the “Youtube”. 

 Vlogger is the one who can be a good influencer to his/her viewer, share a new knowledge, performance art, music or about their lives. In fact almost anything you can share it with other people it has categories like, make-up, gaming, food, unboxing, fitness, tech views, and comedy. The purpose of vlog is to share experiences, knowledge, ideas, thoughts, advices with an audience. 

With Vlog it will make things easier because you can search what ever you want to know in just by searching it, vlog is very helpful especially right now, there’s pandemic but with the use of vlog, some teachers use this platform to share knowledge to their students. It’s a form of communication through the uses of new technology.

“PETITIONS AND ADVOCACY”

 All people in the world have a voice to share their thoughts, knowledge and what problems in our society we need to solve with.

 We learned about “Petitions”, We have the power to have the right changes in our society. It is easy to start a petition because of there are sites that easy to use, also we have advocacy where it involves actions that lead to the selected goal of making advocacy we have the best option for platforms and this is the Social Media. 

We realized here that the success of developmental communication and advocacy is depend on the ICT platforms and tools used. It is also stated here that social media may help you build or increase your audience, that you can use it to communicate with others since it makes it easier, and that it is free so you can use it whenever you want. 

However, we must keep in mind that social media is not always beneficial, so it is best to concentrate solely on the campaign that we will run. It’s everywhere, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube it is all a social media where it has 3 faces it can be good, bad, ugly to us.

INFOGRAPHIC

We didn’t know much about infographic before, but thanks to empowerment technologies, we now know its definition, its purpose, what it looks like and how to create one. 

An infographic is a compilation of images, charts, visualizations, and text that illustrates a concept or a point of view. It is created to educate and inform. 

They are well designed and easy to understand. We’ve also learned that typography and colors matter a lot in infographic because they are part of the visual experience, and not to use more than 3 color palettes because too few colors will make a boring infographic. It is also important to include sources and references.

We also create our own infographic and based on the knowledge given to us, we created a good infographic, as you can see in the picture it is the infographic we created and we really enjoy the process of making it, and we can say thru this it allow people to easily digest information because of different chart, diagram, text image infographic have.

THE ROLE OF ICT IN RECENT HISTORY

In this lesson we learned so many things about history, history is part of what we are right now, or we can say, what new technology we have in our time. 

We learned that Radio Veritas EDSA, was the rally took place in Edsa, which is where the radio station was used to spread the news to the people about the rally that took place at the time. At first, this radio station was not very popular, but because of the protest that took place in Edsa, this radio station became famous for it’s purpose “spreading of right information to the people.”Also the demonstration was well-attended, it was also one of the ways for the radio station to become more popular and well-known. It is useful technology we had before.

 We also have Text Brigades and EDSA Dos according to what we understand, the text brigades used or took advantage of this during the demonstration because texting was free here at first, but later it charged 1 peso, it is cheaper than voice calls, and you will need to have everything you want to say in just one text to save money as well. The Second People’s Power Revolution began as 11 senators voted to depose or demote former President Erap, but the matter was also resolved when the Former President released the Resignation letter. 

Last is the Yolanda People Finder, they used Google Person Finder to find or locate their loved ones who were affected by Typhoon Yolanda. This Google Person Finder is also advantageous and helpful for us because it can assist anyone who misses their loved ones in life because it is a big thing that you can trace your loved one if he is in good condition to receive immediate assistance if needed, for us this technology had a big part of the history, imagine how advance the technology before? And if we will think into deeper, our technology right now is more advantageous than what it can do before.

INTERNET SEARCH

“Internet is every researcher’s dream come true”. We were fond of this quote from the Internet Search lesson. Internet Search shows a variety of sources for information. 

This variety allows anyone looking for information to choose and choose whatever sources they want to use, or to use a combination of sources to acquire a better grasp of a subject. It is really a dream come true for every researcher. Throughout the lesson, we have been educated to the common commands for search engines. It was the first time we discovered them. We had no idea that adding a “+ “ sign before a word means that it must be included in each sites listed, as well as adding a “-“ before a word so it will not appear in the sites and using quotation marks so it will help to find specific phrases involving more than one word.

 It’s very interesting and it gave us so much new knowledge. We can see it being a useful tool as a student in gathering information If we need it for research papers. We also learnt about copyright infringement in the Philippines, and how the penalty varies depending on the severity of the case, with the lowest case resulting in imprisonment of between 1 to 3 years and a fine of between 50,000 to 150,000 pesos.

 DESIGNING AND COPYWRITING FOR ICT PROJECTS

This topic has helped us to have a better knowledge of how ICT projects work. 

We have learned that in order for the project to succeed, it’s important to go through the four main processes of ICT Project; Planning, Development, Release and Promotion, and Maintenance.

 For example, in planning, to ensure all work is completed on time and within budget, a clear plan of action must be in place, including who's responsible for what, what work is required, when work must be performed, plus any other useful information the project team may need. 

These processes will also help to improve employee’s communication, automate numerous business operations, and make the projects more transparent and open. We also learned that we can apply to ourselves the three C’s which is Communication, Collaboration, and concept, it develops a successful partnership in ICT project that can also makes us better when working with other people.

EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGIES

In our generation right now we are open to the world of Technology, who brings a better quality of life because it makes tasks easier for us. It advances the access we have, Technology has a really great impact on our society and we can’t deny that we used it to interact with other people even how far they are with us, we can make a communication on a daily basis because of the used of “TECHNOLOGY”
