i think part of women's inability to accept that johnny depp is an abusive man because they like him and grew up watching his movies is related to the overall resistance to acknowledging the reality of male violence and patriarchy. around 20% of women have been raped, 40% have experienced some sort of sexual assault, 80% have been sexually harassed, teenage girls are at the highest risk, 20% of women and 5-10% of men were sexually abused before they turned 18. 99% of perpetrators are men. so what does that say about the men in our lives? it's a terrifying reality to face. and we can't even get men to stop saying bitch. men are violent and entitled, ordinary men who we like, men we share our homes with, fathers and brothers and husbands. really facing up to this is fucking soul crushing.

Anyway some things to follow when youre a beginner cook:

Don’t constantly shift your food around in the pan if you want to form a crust on it, the less you move it the better.

Don’t be afraid to add water if youre frying up food and the food/sauce looks a bit dry.

Don’t fry up your garlic early on in the cooking process (unless youre making a quick garlic oil) as the garlic flavour can straight up disappear if overcooked for too long and/or the garlic can become bitter if burnt

Don’t overcook your vegetables. Look up recommended cook times for them. Your distaste for vegetables stems from them being overcooked and being poorly seasoned.

Don’t microwave stuff for more than 2 minutes at a time unless you know what you’re doing. Reheating stuff tends to fare better when you mix food between microwaving times since microwaves develop hotspots if you microwave it uninterrupted for too long.

Don’t try cooking everything at the hottest setting. It’s super tempting to have a high flame and do a meal quickly but actually follow directions and cook at medium or low heat.

Roe V Wade was apparently protecting my access to Methotrexate.

Hey so because of Roe V Wade being overturned I no longer have access to the most important medicine I take for my rheumatoid arthritis, Methotrexate. So I’m fundraising so I can travel to where I can get it, and then buy it out of pocket. This is a crucial drug for preventing my RA from getting worse. Once it does, there is no reversing it. I am not surprised that whatever pirate thing has slavers as charcaters in it, because thats what pirates were doing! it wasnt just drinking rum and getting scurvy, thats mostly why i generally stay away from pirate media. but to see people continuously dismiss slavery and act confused as to why black people are upset that people keep using that as a backdrop to either "show white people a lesson" (which it never does because white people do not want to accept they are complacent in it all, nor do they want to see themselves as the villains hence why they are so quick to say "slavery wasn't that bad") or be revisionist, letting white people use the excuse "its not a documentary! it can be lighthearted it dosent have to be accurate"

people dont understand that slavery did not just end and all of a sudden black people were free to do whatever they wanted, they dont understand how horrific it was. whenever i hear people talk about 12 years a slave i always see a response along the lines of "that was like a horror movie, definitely overexaggerated". that movie did not even touch the tip of the iceberg of what was going on on plantations and in those houses.

There is generational trauma from this, the last survivors (yes, survivors) of this are leaving but their children and their children will and are seeing and experiencing the repercussions of slavery. Yet, when people express how painful it is to see nonblack people using the monsters who treated our ancestors like cattle and less than human as their little protagonists that they project all sorts onto, there is an outcry, black people must get over it and shut up.

ok like. disclaimer: im not christian, i have never been a christian, i was not born and raised within the christian majority and in fact i live my entire life in a muslim country where christians are still oppressed in 2020s
