So many common problems we see today in our society and Ummah (amongst the youth mostly); especially inferiority complexes and the comprising of our principles, would have easily been fixed and rectified had we been raised with and taught Al-Wala’ Wal-Bara’.

The majority of Muslims have no clue what that even is...

It’s because most groups only want to focus on “good character”, blind love, and sing Kumbaya all day; yet lack in the most basic fundamentals of creed..

The inconsistency between religiosity today in beliefs and practices is mind-blowing. People are just a product of their environment and critical thinking and authentic knowledge is a thing of the past. Is Dajjal here yet?

The prostration signifies the utter most physical surrender and submission to Allah. Man’s deadliest enemy, his ego and pride is in head, and while prostrating bowing one’s head onto the ground, it should be a reminder to man that his ego and pride must be surrendered each time to the Most High; until pride is free of him, and his ego no longer dominant. This is only achieved through a conscious presence of submission, internalizing the reality of how low one’s self and state truly is in that moment. And thus we say,

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى

One of my coworkers who is a Muslim, but not practicing said I appeared in his dream the other night and came in the form of Jesus apparently and sternly warned him to repent and change before it’s too late (LOL) I couldn’t help but laugh. “The Hanbalis have always defended the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah and were famous for this, following in the footsteps of Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal. To the point that those who followed the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah were referred to as Hanbali even if they followed another legal school. For example, Imam al-Subki said about Imam al-Dhahabi that he was Shaafi’ in fiqh, and Hanbali in aqeedah. Imam al-Subki then said that Imam al-Dhahabi became Hanbali in aqeedah because of studying with Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah.”

“There is more or less a consensus amongst the scholars that the only way to getting far in Fiqh is through perfecting one particular Madhhab first with a teacher. Name a scholar after the Four Imams and you will find that this was their way. Whether Ibn Qudamah, al-Nawawi, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-‘Arabi, Ibn 'Abdil Barr, Ibn 'Abidin, al-Sarakhsi, Ibn al-Qayyim, Ibn Rajab, and other Imams who are our main authorities for understanding the religion. They all were Imams of the Sunnah, and they all went through the same path. But people refuse to follow in their footsteps and this is why they have not achieved anything despite them being into knowledge for years. Learn Fiqh according to one of the Four Madhahib with a teacher for a few years and you will see the difference between systematic learning and chaotic learning.

The greatest scholars from the Salaf had hundreds, if not thousands of teachers they’d learn and benefit from, ranging from diverse backgrounds of knowledge differing from each other. They’d travel across the world for even just one Hadith to be said to them. Today we have those who learn comfortably from 1 scholar or 2 (if even in person from a real scholar) and think they’re on top of the world with their atoms weight of impenetrable knowledge lol.

The two prevalent extremes between Salafis today:

1) Khawarij/Takfeeris

2) Madkhalis/Murji'ah

The former presents an external threat, while the latter an internal one for the Ummah.

You have one side (to keep it simple) carelessly and ignorantly taking people outside of the fold of Islam simply for matters of ikhtilaf and lack of knowledge based on an elementary understanding of ‘Aqeedah and Tawheed, and on the other side you have people boot-licking tyrants as their divine saviors and excommunicating/demonizing anyone who speaks out against the blatant oppression and corruption you see from the Muslim rulers of today; let alone ironically both sides rely on less than a handful of “scholars” that they claim to be the only ones following correct Islam, when that couldn’t be any further from the truth. 

They are both responsible for the many negative connotations associated with the term 'Salafi' today for their actions. Look to the examples of the past and actual Salaf in an objective manner, not from those cherry picking their quotes and excerpts out of context to push an agenda and ideology. 

Traditional Atharis or 'Salafis' were termed as Hanbalis or Ahlul Hadith in the past (both in Fiqh & 'Aqeedah), and many contemporary Athari scholars have slowly abandoned openly using the term 'Salafi' because of the misrepresentation from both these extreme groups. This doesn’t mean one cannot call them-self a Salafi, but it is important to distinguish the reality and essence of that word from those who have hijacked the term.

Haha. I don’t have to agree with every action of a scholar to share something of benefit they have said (within the scope of Ahlus Sunnah). He has his apolitical approach and focus on rectifying character and increasing Imaan for the general masses. May Allah reward him for the good he’s done for the Ummah, and may Allah forgive and guide him in his faults and shortcomings, Ameen. The same du’a goes for our very own selves who have not come even close to the sacrifice and commitment to knowledge such individuals have made.
