Nathan smiled and chuckled. “Yeah. Bow is better than piece of wood.” He sighed and rubbed his face lightly. “Yeah. It is. I’m glad you like it.” He said and smiled. “She left some time ago. Told us to say when we’re ready to head out.” He said and shrugged.
Virgil nodded, stretching. “Oh? Cool. Yeah, she wants to take you shopping and all that”.
Nathan frowned and sighed. “I… I don’t really need anything. You took all the clothes I had from my dad’s house when we were both leaving…” he said and shrugged lightly.
“Which was hardly anything” replied Virgil, shrugging as well. “She won’t go overboard, just wants to get you a few things so you can actually wear cleans clothes every day”.
Nathan sighed and rubbed his face. “I… I don’t know how to feel about it…” he said and looked down. He sighed and rubbed his arms. “Um.. Should we go?” He asked as he looked at the door.
“Sure” chirped Virgil, standing up and heading for the door. “Come on then, we’ll be back soon”.
Nathan took the bow in one hand and with other he used the crutches to walk. He sighed and walked after the other. Hoping that nothing bad happens while shopping. He had enough bad things happening to him for now.
Virgil entered the house with Nathan, calling for his Mum- who promptly popped her head around the door.
“Yes? What’s up, Stormcloud?”.
“We’re ready to go shopping… hopefully it won’t be too crowded”.
Persephone smiled as she curled around the frame and nodded. “Oh? Okay! Let’s do it!”.
Nathan put down the not-done-bow and grabbed the crutch, looking up at them. He still was getting used to all of this. To not being beaten up every minute. He didn’t know that life could be like it. Sometimes he thought he was sleeping and that when he wakes up he’ll be back there. He sighed and closed his eyes, taking a deeper breath. “I hope he won’t be there…” he said and swallowed.
The trio left the house and clambered into the car, with Persephone making sure everyone was buckled in before setting off. She drove for about five minutes, before shaking her head and putting some music on.
“… are you seriously gonna sing?” said Virgil, hiding in his hood again. “Whyyyyyyy”.
“Yep” replied Persephone, popping the p, as she continued to drive and sing.
Nathan just sat there and looked at his casts. He didn’t know how ling he will have them but they already were bothering him. He wanted to be able to move normally. He didn’t want tk have them anymore.
It was a short drive, but eventually Persephone pulled into a little car park; chirping as she stopped the car. “We’re here!”.
“Great, now you can stop singing” mumbled Virgil, fiddling with his seatbelt before helping Nathan.
“Oh my dearest Stormcloud, never~” teased the older female, chuckling as she clambered out.
Nathan was silent for the whole road. He was looking out the windows and trying to see where he was. When they got there he swallowed and smiled, nodding to Virgil as a ‘thank you’ for helping. He took his crutch, taking it and slowly getting out. He looked around to be sure his father wasn’t around. He still was a bit paranoid about him finding him and beating him up again. He was scared of his father.
Persephone sighed, heading over to Nathan and standing close to him. “He won’t be here, and if he is? I’ll punch him right through to next Tuesday”.
“Legit, she really will” stated Virgil, pulling his hood up. “You’re safe, Nathan”.
Nathan looked up at Persephone and then down. He thought for a little while and then nodded softly. “Okay… Thank you, ma'am…” he said and smiled smally.
He looked at Virgil and smiled at the comment. He felt safer already. He still will keep his guard up though.
The trio entered the shopping centre, with Persephone humming and Virgil… trying to deter his focus away from the fact that there was so many people.
Nathan was lookig around, a little bit nervous about so many people around him. He walked after them and tried not to lose them from his sight. He was quite slow with his broken leg and arm.
Virgil stayed close to Nathan, chewing his lip.
Persephone smiled as she walked, heading for the nearest clothes shop.
Nathan stayed close to the other and looked around a bit anxiously. “D-Do you think he could be here…?” He asked Virgil as he looked at the other. Still following Persephone.
“Nah, probably back at his house getting drunk” answered Virgil, sighing. “And even if he is? He’s not gonna touch you”.
Nathan rubbed his arm and listened. He really was scared of that man. But coupd you blame him? The man threw him out of the window of a first floor. He nodded a little at what Virgil said and relaxed. “Okay…”
Virgil sighed, gently leading Nathan into the shop- where his mum was already balls-deep in clothing. “Muuuuuummmmmm, legit, what are you doing?”.
“Shoppinnnnng” sung the reply, as Persephone popped her head out of the pile. “What? Can’t a girl spoil her two favourite boys?”.
Nathan followed and swallwed at how much clothes there were. He looked around and just stood there.
“To the changing rooms!” chirped Persephone, racing off to the back of the shop.
“I… am so sorry about her” sighed Virgil, leading Nathan. “She can be a handful sometimes…”.
Nathan walked after Virgil and tried to not gain anyones attention. He hated that he had the cast on his leg. It mede it very difficult to move around with so many people. He shook his head at Virgil. “Th-That’s alright…”
Virgil walked with Nathan, looking around. Luckily, it wasn’t too busy so the shop was quiet.
Nathan was looking around, still a bit scared and unsure. He walked after Virgil and tried to get too much attention.
The pair entered the changing rooms and did the clothing check thing, before Persephone left with the collection and searched for the register.
“How’s your leg? Cause like… I reckon it was hard for you to put on so many pants” said Virgil, sighing as he zipped up his jacket. “At least you’ve got clothes for… legit, years”.
Nathan sighed. “To be honest… It hurts when I try to put something on it… ” He sighed and rubbed his face. He wrapped his arms around himself and sighed. “I… I don’t like shopping.” He said rubbing yhe back of his head.
“Yeah… neither do I” replied Virgil, rubbing his own arm. “But at least we don’t need to shop for ages”.
Nathan smiled and nodded. “It’s a bit crowded in here… ” He said and sighed, rubbing his face.
“Yeah… I noticed but I didn’t wanna think about it” mumbled Virgil, chewing his lip. “Hopefully Mum won’t be too much longer”.
Nathan looked at all the clothes and frowned. “You’re not getting anything..? ” He asked as he looked up at him. “I… I feel weird getting something while you’re not… ”
“Oh, don’t worry- my stuff is in that mountain somewhere” replied Virgil, picking at his sleeve.
Finally, Persephone came back over with bags. “I can’t wait to unpack all of this! You’re going to look divine!”.
Nathan nodded. “Okay… ” He said and looked at thw clothes. He jumped at Persephone’s voice and swallowed. “A-Are you sure I need that many…? ”
“Oh it’s no trouble, this means you won’t need to buy anything for ages” chirped Persephone, smiling. “Come on, back to the car”.
Nathan swallowed but nodded. “I-If you say so….” He said and rubbed his arm a little. He was still nervous at the big amout of clothes. He never had so many of them for himself.
The group walked back to the car, with Persephone skipping and humming- and Virgil dying of embarrassment.
Nathan followed and just got in shakly. He sighed and curled up a little bit. He couldn’t do more eith the casts.
Persephone loaded everything into the trunk, before clambering into the driver’s seat.
“Casts getting in the way?” asked Virgil, as he slid in and buckled his belt.
Nathan nodded. “It’s annoying… ” He said ans looked down at the casts. He rubbed his face and leaned against the seat. It was tiring to walk with them. He closed his eyes and sighed, yawning a little bit.
“Yeah… but like- you gotta deal with them for a few more months dude, sorry about that” remarked Virgil, picking at his sleeve. “I know it sucks”.
Nathan nodded and sighed, just sitting there. After some more time Nathan began drifting off in the car. He was slightly curled up.
Virgil watched Nathan drift off, smiling softly. “Sleep well”.
Nathan sighed and leaned against the seat softly, curling up and relaxing more. He was calm and relaxed but after some time another nightmare had to get him. He began shaking and whimpering, trying to get aeay from whatever he was dreaming about.
Virgil frowned, reaching to hold Nathan’s hand, before gently beginning to sing. Luckily, he suffered from nightmares himself and Persephone had helped him- so he was able to help his friend now.
Nathan slowly began relaxing and soon the nightmare seemed to gi away as he began to sleep peacefully. He sighed and smiled smally in his sleep but didn’t wake up.
Virgil fell asleep too, due to the lull of the engine, leaving Persephone to drive along; singing to the radio.
Nathan relaxed and slept softly for the whole ride without waking. He seemed to be a bjt calmed now that he knew someone was around him to keep him safe.
Persephone peered into her rearview mirror, whilst at some traffic lights, and chuckled. “My sleepy boys” she remarked, continuing to drive.
Nathan kept sleeping softly, not reactjng to any noise around him.
The trio eventually arrived back home, Persephone gently pulling into her driveway. “We’re back” she cooed, parking up and turning to face Virgil and Nathan. “So cute…”.
Nathan relaxed softly while theyr drove. He didn’t have any problem with his casts while sleeping even if they looked uncomfortable to sleep in.
Persephone chuckled as she clambered out, before opening Nathan’s door and scooping him up. “I know you’re not my son, but Virgil can walk if he does decide to wake” she whispered, carrying Nathan to the door.
She then unlocked the door and continued to carry him inside, placing the boy on the couch. “There we go, safe and sound” she cooed, heading back out to grab her son.
Nathan made a small sound when he was lifted up. “N-No… Dad…” He mumblef at being carried. He kept sleeping and sighed softly when he wad put down. He relaxed then.
Persephone then entered with Virgil, placing him down on the other couch, before walking out for a third time- to grab the shopping.
Nathan sighed softly and kept sleeping for a few hours until he woke up. He frowned and looked around softly. How did he get here? He sat up slowly and rubbed his eye.
Virgil was curled up on the other couch, and Persephone was busy in the kitchen- making lunch for everyone.
Nathan stood up, swaying and taking the clutches to keep himseld up. He frowned a bit as he looked arpund and went to yhe kitchen swayly.
Persephone was signing to her radio, as she made lunch for everyone.
Nathan walked in and swallowed. “Hey… ” He said and looekd around. “Can… Can I help somehow…? ” He asked and looked at her.
“Ah! Oh? Hello Nathan” chirped Persephone, smiling. “Help? Oh my dear boy… no need, you can just rest up- besides, I’m almost finished now”.
Nathan frowned. “Oh… Okay… ” He nodded and sighed. “I’ll leave then. ” He said nad left the kitchen, looking around and sighing again.
“Yo” quipped Virgil, stretching as he continued waking up as Nathan hobbled back into the room. “How’d you sleep? Cars always make me drowsy”.
Nathan flinchef and looked over. “Oh. I slept okay. ” He said and smiled smally, nodding. “Yeah. I don’t know if it was the car or I was that tired. ” He shrugged a bit and sighed, slowly sitting down and sighing at the relief of not having yo carry his leg around.
“Meh, either way, you needed the rest” replied Virgil, sniffing the air. “Mmm, something smells de-lish”.
Nathan sighed and looekd down softly, frowning. “Mhm… Very. ” He said and swallwoed. He was quite hungry now. He never felt hunger so badly. It was a habit of his to be hungry but now once he began eating more… It was more noticeable.
Virgil stretched, cracking his fingers, before giving Nathan shy smile. “Yo, you’re gonna go nuts for Mum’s pasta, dude”.
Nathan listened and shrugged a bit. "Okay... " He said and looked around, sighing at the cast on his leg. It really didn't help with mobility. He wanted it off so badly...
