i've been ruminating about this all day and the short answer is that i'm the chipmunk expert and it's a gut feeling. also taking the opportunity to give this year-old image a second life:
the longer, more serious answer (because this is serious) is that ultimately all the chipmunks are talented and cool and have fans. but the whole point of the chipmunks movie is that they're kids and they like to have fun. this is important.
fraser is simon bc he's book smart, won't hesitate to correct someone, and has bad eyesight. nobody is debating that comparison 😭
alvin is the leader despite there not being a gap in talent. he's just more outgoing and has more swagger than the others. he's cocky and likes getting a reaction out of people (especially dave). to me, that's connor. alvin would troll the social media girl with tiktok brainrot. alvin would bait a guy a head taller than him into fighting him. alvin also loves to argue. he's kinda dumb but he knows he's dumb.
on the other hand, theo is notably more soft and childlike. he likes being around people he's comfortable with. to me, mack's more sincere than connor and doesn't seem to take teasing as well. absolutely nothing to do with skill on ice but mack seems younger and he's not as good as connor at masking his emotions. i could get parasocial af with my theories but sometimes guys are just like that.
anyway, idk what to do with the chipmunk assignments but they are concrete for me.
