Once the bill was paid, they headed out, making sure the kids and Sherlock would be taken care of while they explored. Jason set the destination on the GPS in Russ when they climbed in, and they were off. His excitement seemed to waver slightly, but a giant grin stayed on his face. As they climbed out of the car, Jason set the GPS destination to their hotel for the drive back.

They were in the middle of approaching the ship when Jason slipped behind Alex, giving her a soft whisper of “Have fun. I love you,” before disappearing into the crowd and leaving her alone. Even on crutches, he was too good at being stealthy for Alex to spot soon enough to stop him.

He tucked his head down, making sure he didn’t rise above the people, rushing away. I shouldn’t do this. I shouldn’t do this. Why am I doing this? His thoughts raced, until finally they quieted and came to one. I have to do this. Destination: The Master’s hideout.

It happened to fast for her to react to. She whipped around after hearing him whisper in her ear, looking around and quickly as she could. She tried her best to start maneuvering through people, “Jason? Jason!” 

She kept looking, her confusion slowly turning to worry and fear as sh realized she wouldn’t be able to find him in the crowd of people. She quickly pulled out her phone, trying to call him before she called back to the hotel. She had to find out if anyone knew what the hell he was even doing. Her first call went to Alarick’s room, hoping he would know something. She wasn’t to the point of wanting to worry his parents yet. 

Alarick’s attention was quickly disrupted from the book he’d been reading when he heard the phone, moving to pick it up. “Hello?”

Jason had managed to flag down a taxi, and he stopped them a few blocks away from the hideout. He rushed away after paying them, heading down the too-familiar sidewalks through the shadier area of town. Please, baby, don’t try to follow me, please, he begged in his head. Finally reaching the alleyway that would lead to the door, he sucked in a deep breath, shifting on his crutches, before continuing ahead, slower. He knew he’d be being watched, every step of the way.

Jason didn’t trust Rafe. He really didn’t. The guy stunk of money and snobbiness, and reminded him too much of Erik. He was enlisting their help though, so they would have to deal with him. He watched him talking to one of the leaders of the band of thieves he was in, and a smirk slowly broke across his face.

“Watch me bug the hell outta this guy,” he whispered to one of his friends, before sidling up beside him. “Hey, sexy,” he cooed, right before smacking his lips into the other man’s face, reaching to snatch as much as he could plausibly grab from his pocket.

He laughed in response, shaking his head with a little smile. “Honestly, I would love to bleed rainbow blood. That would be so cool.” Their breakfast was just as delicious as it had sounded, Jason briefly ranting about his Boston cream pie and offering Alex a taste of it.

Finally, they finished their breakfast, Jason leaning back in his seat and smacking his lips as he dug around for his money. “Mmmph. So good. And that french toast! 11 outta 10, would eat again and forever. Hey,” he said in a softer voice, pausing and leaning toward her, “… Whaddaya say we go exploring? I mean, you’ll have to drive, but I can man the GPS to get to all the cool places!” He flashed her a smile, and it was honestly the happiest smile she’d seen on his face since the day he left the hospital. “We could check out the USS Constitution if you want! Did you know George Washington is the one who named it? The ship is ancient,” he hummed.

Alex cocked her head a bit with a raised eyebrow, “Really? I’m pretty sure you would know all the cool tourist spots and the not so known tourist spots…” She gave him a smile, lighting up a bit as she saw his smile. She rubbed her chin a bit, “As long as we have people willing to keep the twins for the day, we can certainly do that. Pretty sure we can have mommy and daddy fun today and then another day have some nice family fun.” She leaned back, taking the last sip of her drink as he pulled out money to pay the bill.

Justin and Jason both gave a cheer in unison, “I want grilled cheese too!”

Teddy looked up at Sofi with wide eyes, “Can I have some too?” After a brief pause, he added excitedly, “Can we have cookies after?”

Sofi gave a small giggle, giving the boys a small nod, “Alright then, grilled cheese sandwiches and cookies all around!” She started working on the sandwiches before glancing back, “Go get washed up and set up at the table boys.”

Alex whined a bit from the living room, “I’m Booooooooooorrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeedddddddd!”

Jason cheered excitedly, running off for a moment, and Justin dragged Teddy over to the sink, pulling over a stepping stool so they could wash their hands.

Jason appeared in the living room, giving Alex a frown. “There’s nothin’ to be bored about, we’re gonna eat soon. Come get grilled cheese.” He made his way back to the kitchen, running over to the table and playing eenie-meenie-miney-moe with the chairs before hopping into one. Teddy and Justin followed suit, sitting on either side of him.

Justin nudged his twin gently. “Didja wash your hands?”

“Yeeeaaahhhhh,” Jay lied, resulting in Justin stifling an amused giggle.

Flushed red at this point, he gave a small nod in response, “Uh… yeah, yeah, sure. That sounds… a lot less awkward.” He rubbed his neck shyly, giving Alex’s parents an embarrased smile. “It was.. nice meeting you two… Uh, hopefully next time is… better.” He looked down at his plate, fiddling with his food.

Hermes and Sofia gave little waves and goodbyes, shuffling out of the room awkwardly and leaving the two alone. 

Alex gave a sigh as she started grabbing some stuff to eat herself, “Well….. that really sucked. Nothing we can do about it though, so hopefully we’ll have a better day tomorrow….” She gave another sigh before looking up at him again, “So How about you? You wanna do anything after we eat? Cause I know it wasn’t just my family that came back….” She gave him a soft smile, munching on an apple slice she grabbed.

Pursing his lips, he ate a bit more of his food before finally speaking again, “Well... I do kinda wanna go see my family. I haven’t talked to ‘em for a few years. And Teddy!” His eyes lit up, a large smile gracing his lips, “And I bet they’d like to get to know you, so...”
