Coliseum CAPTCHA Problems 1: Size

Here’s the size of a dragon as displayed in a Camping image.

This is the primary size they’re meant to be viewed at. It’s obvious that shrinking them this much makes them harder to identify.

The thing is, they could make the Camping image much larger, and the objects within it too, very easily.

Here’s the full, regular Coliseum you see while battling, which demonstrates the ability to house several images at sizes that aren’t as ridiculous. Why doesn’t Camping utilize this size?

This is one of the biggest issues, in my opinion, because every other problem is made worse when the images are smaller, less crisp, and more cramped.

If anyone who reads this would take a chance at posting a Coliseum CAPTCHA discussion thread in Flight Rising Discussion, I’d be very grateful (& interested!)

Some tips:

- No matter what, only post it once. If they remove it, and you post again, you WILL be dinged for spam thread posting, no matter how substantially you edit your post to try and comply with the rules.

- Frame it as a discussion inquiry. Any threads started with strong opinions against the current CAPTCHA system will be deleted. Ask users if they have difficulty completing the CAPTCHAs, if the rewards are beneficial, etc. We have to discuss the CAPTCHAs on the Flight Rising team’s terms, or they won’t let us discuss them at all.

Don’t let them silence us!

New post series coming!

Good news for the blog, everyone! We have more than reblogged Camping pictures coming soon!

We plan to explore each facet of the difficulty of the current CAPTCHA system in depth, with lots of examples and pictures! (as soon as the Coli will load for me to get some pics, that is...) Everything from poor resolution to low contrast will be examined! Unlike the summary currently available on our blog, we also hope to explore solutions to each and what they might look like.

We encourage everyone to give their thoughts on the series as it’s posted- and to suggest what we should cover next!
