oh yeah have i ever told yall of the academic war i have been an unwilling soilder in for the past two years
okay SO. i have two professors that both teach this one subject, but different classes. they have different last names, so i didnt know this at first and espically since they are academic RIVELS at my school, but they are MARRIED. but for the past 8 years they have been in an academic WAR of geospatical sciences data. more accurately, the raster vs vector data debate. i am personally on the side of "both have their pros and cons and can be utalizied to the utmost efficency" but both professors are like, DEADLOCKED in insistanting one is better then the other
so, professor A is my mentor. i like him a lot, and he was the main person that taught me the most abotu Eris and ArcGIS. professor B is a professor i had one for class, and shes nice and knows a lot of little tricks about Eris programming but mostly relies on arcMAP because shes the raster data professor.
and THESE MOTHERFUCKERS. have written no less then 30 papers that is basically like a "re: re: re: re: re: re: vector data is better then raster fuck you" but like, Professionally. and they leave stupid notes in the footnotes that read "Reguardless of Professor A's opinions reguarding the efficency of Vector data, Raster data has a more efficant polygon computing rate and is the most commonly used program on interplantaring mapping" and its HILARIOUS
ive read all of their papers, and its basically like reading an email chain between a married couple arguing over the colors of the kitchen backsplash for their new home. its HILARIOUS. but obviously, because of their differnet last names and because they act like they HATE each other, NOT VERY MANY PEOPLE REALIZES THEYRE MARRIED
until like LAST WEEK
professor B publishes a paper that casually drops the word "husband"
and obviously all the students are like "oh i didnt know u were married!" because we read that shit like how white suburban mothers read People Magazine
and shes like "yeah, its Professor A"
and we all FLIPPED. THE FUCK. OUT
we thought the framed picture of the two of them on professor A's desk was ironic because hes that type of guy
like, you gotta undestand. these two have gotten into YELLING matches in hallways. these two refuse to go onto trips with each other. but apparently they have a system where they quite LITERALLY leave all of their work at work and drive home in seperate cars and literally NEVER mention work at home. it is SO funny
Nesta: are you a cuddler?
Azriel: I AM A MONSTER OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION-
Gwyn: yeah, he's a cuddler.

heyâŚ.
nothing you ever read, watch, or participate in will be ideologically pure and without its problems. your quest to consume the most unproblematic material will be, in the end, fruitless. your enjoyment of anything will be sapped away, leaving you a husk starved for media.
it is okay to enjoy things that have problems to them, so long as you do it critically and with an open mind, and take care to consider others.

Nessian Lawyer AU (Test Run)
This one goes out to @talkfantasytome who requested a Nessian lawyer AU. Iâm feeling out drabbles right now to try and figure out what I want to write next (feel free to send in any requests to my messages or asks!). Anyway, Iâve always avoided the ever popular Nessian lawyer AU because as some of you know⌠I recently passed the bar and am in fact a lawyer.
My fear with that has always been that Iâd make things too technical or too political. And that Iâd be too caught up in accurate law that Iâd lose some drama. Happy to report I, in fact, did all of those things. Hope you enjoy anyway đ¤ˇââď¸
âYouâre going to lose this case, you know.â Nesta wasnât engaging in courtroom mind games. She was merely stating a fact to a colleague as they happened to bump into each other at the coffee shop across from the court house.
Theyâd both been down that morning for other matters, and she had certainly not made the decision to stop in for a lunch time pick me up because she saw Cassian walking into Grounds for Appeal. Atrocious pun aside, it was the best espresso in a three block radius of the court house and most of the major downtown law firms- which were all, conveniently, clustered around said courthouse.
Nestaâs motion that morning had been so easily won that she was just itching to go toe to toe with a real opponent. And whatever else he was, Cassian certainly fit that bill.
âOnly you would say that about a truly un-winnable case.â His warm smile was as annoying as it was genuine. âYouâre a brilliant lawyer, Nes, but the law is on my side.â
âDonât call me that.â Nesta glared, âAnd donât patronize me. The legislation is on your side. That doesnât mean the law is.â
âForgive me,â Cassian smirked, âbut I was under the impression that we lived in a democracy where lawmakers were elected to pass laws and the Justice system upheld them.â He ran a hand through his thick, dark hair. It was too long to be professional. Everything about Cassian was just⌠too much to be professional. He was too tall. Too muscular. Too charming. His eyes were too smouldering and his damn hair was too long.
Which only made it so much more frustrating that when he did strap his half wild self into that Armani suit and tie back his hair⌠he became the definition of perfectly unprofessional. Like a fucking sherif in the Wild West set to uphold the law. Even when the law was wrong.
Nesta, who was the perfect vision of everything acceptably professional, hated how much she wanted to rip his hair out of that stupid bun and run her fingers through it. Grip it. Pull it. Use it to hold him under a shallow stream until he stopped breathing. Stopped being the only lawyer in the city who could actually beat her.
âAnd here I thought that, as lawyerâs, it was our job to uphold Justice and convince judges to smack down unconscionable legislation.â
âAh yes, unconscionable. The last argument of a dying case,â Cassian smirked and Nesta almost smacked him on his ridiculously muscled bicep. Because he was so annoying right. Not that she planned to rely on unconscionability, but sheâs certainly be bringing it up. It put judges in the right mindset.
Cassian smiled back at her, knowing that she knew he was right, and ordered his coffee. Earning an intense glare from Nesta, because he didnât only order his coffee.
â2 large iced Americanoâs. One black, one with a splash of soy and two pumps of sugar free vanilla for this sugar free woman attempting to hold court in your establishment.â He gave the barista a charming smile that Nesta had to admit tended to make women melt.
âAss,â she grumbled.
âOh good, youâre finally admitting to staring at it. I was wondering when weâd move past the little games. Iâve been checking you out for the last year too, just for the record. So you donât feel embarrassed by how obvious youâve been.â Cassian winked, grabbing their drinks and plucking up a straw for his. He handed hers over as she dug out the metal straw she kept in her bag. âHow does it feel to be morally superior to absolutely everyone in everything, Nesta Archeron?â
Nesta stabbed her straw through the compostable plastic cup- a change she herself had convinced the shop owner to implement by showing him the environmental tax credit that would actually help his bottom line.
âIt isnât hard to be morally superior to an over glorified ICE agent.â
Cassian paused. Then shook his head and held the door for her before exploding. âNesta, I donât make the laws, but as ADA it is my job to uphold them.â
âOh that is such President Cheeto bullshit!â Nesta stamped her foot. âWhat, next youâre going to tell me that my client is a threat to American security?â
âShe might be,â Cassian shrugged. But there was none of his usual bite behind the comeback.
âMy client was born here.â Nesta stared at him. âShe grew up in Queens for crying out loud! And you would deny her a college education because her parents immigrated illegally?â
âI wouldnât deny her anything!â Cassianâs eyes went cold. Hard. âDo you know how these policies get changed, sweetheart?â
âDonât call me that.â
Cassian rolled his eyes, âThese things donât change because overpaid Columbia grads who bill 2200 hours a year for their corporate overlords try to assuage their guilty conscience by taking pity on a few immigration cases to use up their Pro Bono.â He grabbed her upper arm and pulled her into a side street. Stepping back and pacing several steps away before coming back.
Oh, she had really gotten under his skin this time. âThings change when we elect new people into office. And I can only move higher in the District Attorneyâs office and get that experience by being good at my job. The will of the many and all that.â
Nesta scoffed, âJudge my firm all you want, but while you wait years, maybe decades, to try and implement some policy reform that we both know too many Americans are too racist to vote for, families are being separated every day!â
âYour white saviour routine is inspiring. Really.â
âAnd your model minority smiling for the catalogues routine is helping so many people?â
âWatch it,â Cassian growled. Sheâd hit more than just a nerve there. âDamnit Nesta, every fucking time!â
âSorry.â Nesta Archeron didnât apologize. Ever. She was a shark. She moved forward and left blood in her wake. She didnât stop to clean up the entrails. She went for the jugular⌠every fucking time. âI⌠that was too far.â
âOh no you donât,â Cassian moved closer to her, his much larger frame looming over her until he reached up to tuck back a single strand of hair that had come loose from her perfect chignon. âDonât retract your claws now, Nes. Iâm not the wrinkled up old partners at your firm that want you to smile and look pretty and never talk back. I like the fangs. I love it when you tear into me.â
âYou do?â Nesta swallowed, nowhere near admitting that she might be just a little out of her element here. That her heart was racing in her chest and her throat was tight.
âOf course I do,â he smiled. âYou call out my hypocrisies. I call out yours. It just gives us both so much more motivation to prove the other wrong.â
Nesta caught onto his game quickly. Tilted her neck back as his large, brown hand came up to brush against her pulse point. âHow unfortunate for you that I am never wrong.â
Cassian laughed. Tipped his head back and really, truly laughed. Low and deep and somehow sinful.
âGlad to see youâre coming to this case ready to play, Nesta.â
âThis isnât a game to me.â She glared at him. âThis is a girlâs future.â
âI know,â Cassianâs voice was rough and low. âTurns out Iâm busy the day we originally picked. Case had to be rescheduled. And reassigned to Judge Miluski.â
Nesta froze under his touch. âBut⌠we had Sanchez,â she whispered. The right wing judge who avoided being accused of humanity by denying 85% of her green card application cases. Nesta was responsible for at least 5% of the ones that were approved, but stillâŚ
âMiluski is a bleeding heart,â Nesta stared at Cassian. Utterly confused. He was throwing the case. Giving her the win.
âDo you really think Iâm such a monster, sweetheart? That I would cut my path to the top on the backs of children just fighting for an education?â
âNo.â Nesta admitted slowly. âNo, I never⌠but come on Cassian, you have to admit that you changed.â
âI didnât change. My job title did. You arenât exactly fighting for Green Peace like you planned in law school either, are you?â
Nesta scoffed, âNot that. I know the realities of paying back student debt and taking jobs you donât love, but you⌠I get why you moved to the DAâs office, Cass. I really do. I just never expected you to be so excited about it. So⌠different.â
âI meant what I said, Nesta.â Cassian moved forward, resting his forehead far too intimately against her own. âIâm going to be District Attorney someday. Maybe even Congress. Iâm going to change these laws rather than fight them.â
âI want to be a judge,â Nesta admitted. She had never admitted the ambition to anyone.
âYou already are,â Cassian smirked.
Nesta smacked him on the shoulder. âI can only assume that you mean I am so good at what I do that I may as well be a judge since I always win anyway.â
âYeah,â Cassian grinned, âof course, Sweetheart. Thatâs exactly what I meant.â
âThank you,â Nesta straightened back up. âFor⌠sheâs a really good student. She deserves this opportunity. I wouldâve beat you anyway, but thank you for the peace of mind.â
Cassian laughed again. âHow about you thank me by finally letting me take you to dinner?â
âIâm your dreams.â Nesta scoffed.
âEvery night, Your Honor.â
Here you go Darling: question #15 and #9.
Have a wonderful day â¤ď¸
Hello, sweetheart! Thanks for these. I hope your day is filled with things that make you smile.
9: 3 things you like doing on rainy days â I love snuggling up with a hot cup of coffee, a warm blankets, and my cat on rainy days. If my husband is home, heâll do, but the cat is better. Usually there is a book involved, or the television, either way. Rainy days are meant for lounging and comfort.
15: 3 quotes that have a special place in your life â (1) âEverybodyâs free to failâ from Assassins the Musical (itâs tattooed on my foot); (2) âYou can be struggling and still be loved. You can be difficult and still be cared for. You can be less than perfect, and still be deserving of compassion and kindnessâ Daniell Koepke; (3) âMy kisses taste like tacos, tacos and burritosâ (Iâm looking at you @accio-echo ).
