“Well, come on then,” said James with another grin.

Lily smiled to herself and began slowly walking around the garden, observing the life that was growing at her feet. The dirt patches were filled with a mix of both magical and non-magical plants. Mallowsweet and dittany grew between flowerbeds filled with asphodel, peonies, and tulips. Their rainbow petals brought a brightness to the overcast day, making everything around them feel so vivid. The garden itself was surrounded by an old wooden fence, that must have seen better days. Wildflowers such as white clovers, daisies, and dandelions were growing in the grass beneath it.

“How did you find this place?” asked Lily, looking around in wonder. She took in a breath, inhaling the aromatic air that was thick with floral earthiness.

“We always liked to explore,” said James simply. “You wouldn’t believe how much time the four of us spent just looking for things others might not find.”

“Ah, was this while you guys were up to no good?” asked Lily with a smile.

James’s eyebrow arched and his eyes twinkled.

“You could say that.”

On the far side of the wooden fence was a small, babbling brook. The sound of running water added extra sense of peacefulness to the already charming garden. Lily watched as the water weaved through the uneven ground, passing over the stones and sending autumn leaves trickling down with the current.

Lily turned back to James, who was staring at her intently.

“It’s beautiful,” said Lily.

“Yeah. It is.”

There was nothing she could do as Remus’s body went completely rigid and then all at once began to shake again, this time harder than before. His limbs began to snap harshly and bend at inhuman angles as his bones started to shift. Remus’s scream soon became guttural, quickly beginning to sound more like animalistic snarls than a boy in pain.

As his body grew in size, the hospital gown began to tear around him. Fur had already sprouted across his body and Remus clawed at himself, tearing away the remaining fabric until pieces of shredded cloth surrounded what used to be human feet. Now in their place were enormous grey paws. His long, sharp claws tore into the already torn-up wooden floorboards as easily as if they were made of clay. Although he was mid-transformation, he lurched into the floor in a way that still looked like a human fighting off pain.

And then as quickly as it had started, it was over.

Another super fun redraw🥰✏️ I love this guy so much, and he’s such a great character! The thing I love most is his character arc, where he really becomes his own person, and follows his passions. I like to imagine he went out and became an accomplished Herbologist, researching many kinds of unknown species of plants, and writing books about them, then returned to Hogwarts to teach later, when he grew tired of the travelling. And all those students at Hogwarts would ask him questions about his travels, and his adventures with Harry Potter, and “Is it true you killed You Know Who’s snake with a sword??” to which he would look them dead in the eyes and say; “that son of a bitch had it coming.” Imagine the looks on their 11-year-old faces to see the teacher who sings lullabies to the plants curse Voldemort in dead seriousness. Brilliant, just brilliant⭐️

So, yeah, give it up for Neville 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

“We won’t learn it in class, so you have to teach us!”

“What’s going on?” whispered Peter, leaning forward towards them.

Sirius turned around at his desk to face Peter. “Patronus lessons!”

“Wicked!”

Hermione was desperately trying to keep up with her notes and wishing she could snap her textbook shut and smack the lot of them with it. Perhaps Sirius twice. Just for good measure.

“Full moon is at the end of the month; that’s only a week away,” James whispered, leaning towards her. “A deal’s a deal.”

“We should start tonight. No one is on patrol and quidditch hasn’t started yet,” said Sirius.

“Oh, I don’t know about that…” said Hermione under her breath. As of late she had been more focused on preparing for the full moon rather than preparing any kind of lesson for them. She had assumed they wouldn’t start them until after the first full moon.

“Do you have something better to do tonight?” asked James.

“Well, no…”

“Perfect,” he grinned.
