New Years Eve in Times Square. Itâs the biggest party in the world. But this year, the wishes on the confetti that will drop at midnight arenât just wishes. Theyâre coming true. Not for the people who wrote them, but the people who catch the scraps of paper when the ball drops. People with dreams they never thought of dreaming make New York devolve into chaos, and yet at the same time the city becomes more alive than ever. Suddenly everyone thinks they have a chance again, everyone thinks they can achieve a dream, whether itâs theirs or not.
This is a long and boring story. It started out on bebo, a Harry Potter roleplay to be exact, where someone linked me to an account where they were using my pictures as the face claim. I was fourteen at the time; it was definitely one of the most bizarre moments of my life. Regardless, I was flattered in some odd sense of the word and decided to check out the page.Â
I really enjoyed creative writing as it was (being German, I've always felt the need to enhance my English writing skills, too) and I decided to make an account. I made my first roleplay account: clueless, useless, and probably lacking sufficient skill. I played a Vampire at Hogwarts (weird, I know). His name was Daniel Crouch and he was an evil Son of a Bitch. He was my baby. It's surprising how much someone can develop over a short period of time with the help of others. I saw how much people wrote to each other and how they wrote; I managed to adapt these styles. I feel starting out on Bebo (although it is an incredibly shambolic place to RP) helped me develop in the way that Bebo roleplay is para based. Smaller paragraphs, sure, but paragraphs nonetheless.
Bebo roleplay died down and I didn't roleplay for over a year. When searching through tags on tumblr, however, I found a roleplay and decided to investigate further yet again. This roleplay was a TVD AU roleplay. I joined as Caroline and begin to develop my skills. Bare in mind that my paragraphs were probably about four lines long, barely punctuated and I had no clue how to gif chat here. I decided to look at roleplay blogs to help me.
Once I finally out grew that roleplay I found others, more exciting roleplays including: zombie roleplays, supernatural roleplays, asylum roleplays. It was all good and fun. I developed from there, really, and now I am a multi-paraing, slightly addicted roleplayer at a wonderful roleplay where I play one CC and one OC.

Okay, so youâve done it â youâre there! Youâre going to lose your smut virginity (or refine your skills in the paper bedroom). Whilst in the roleplay world you may be receiving a metaphorical pat on the back for your grafting; you may be feeling completely and utterly befuddled. Hereâs a few tips to ensure you donât become a hungry cock goblin and make a floppy tit of yourself. (Iâm not funny, I know).Â
First thingâs first: remember these!
Weâve all be there.
Thatâs right! Remember, weâve all been there â even the smuttiest smut writer of the smut Gods. Youâre new to it, so what? Itâs bound to come up somewhere in roleplay (unless, of course, you joined a no smut RP) so why not start now? If youâre so embarrassed or unsure of how to write smut: tell the other roleplayer that itâs your first time! That way, theyâll be sure to expect some slip ups (not that you will; youâre going to be an expert, just wait).
Keep your character in mind!
Now, if it comes down to smut and your previously shy and timid character turns into a sex God/Goddess, someone will definitely pick up on it. This is goes for the âangstyâ character turning into a soft puppy. If your character is a demanding, no-rule-bastard, make them that way! Donât be afraid to act the way you imagine them being.
Remember: your character should act in smut as they would in conversation/para!
All act and no feel makes Smut a dull boy.
One of the main things to remember when it comes down to writing the deed: smut is not all about action! If youâre going to write purely action based smut para then, unfortunately for you (and the person youâre roleplaying with), it will come across as a smut cooking book. Theyâre your character; you want them to be believable! So, picture them as real people. Mention their feelings, their thoughts, the things they can taste, the their temperature... You get my gist, right?
[Side note: feelings are highly, highly important if youâre writing âromanticâ smut. However, itâs always good to mention the thoughts and feelings of someone simply going in for a quick fuck.]
 Sex does not equal love.
I know you! Youâve probably drowned in a âsea of feelsâ because â[insert character] is getting down and dirty with [insert character],â right? HOLD UP, WAIT A MINUTE! (put a little love itâ«) Donât turn into the âwait, so our characters are shipped into oblivion, theyâll get married and have four children and a cat named Fredâ roleplayer. Just donât. Sex does not mean love. In fact, it would probably be beneficial to your writing for you to establish exactly why the characters are having sex in the first place. Are they drunk? Casual hook-up? One night stand? Mistake? Relationship? Part of a plot?
Check yourself before you wreck yourself!
One of the best things to do (in my opinion) is to question yourself; this ensures that youâre keeping in character, and keeping a focus on what your character would feel, think and do. Try some of these questions:
Would [insert name] really act this way?
How are [insert name] feeling? Do they feel at all?
Are they having a good time?
How do [insert name] feel about the other person?
Are they slow? Fast? Rough? Soft?
Would they bite? Scratch? Stroke? Trace inane patterns? Grab at skin?
 Will they have their clothes on or off?
What sounds do they make? Do they snarl? (Please, for the love of all things holy, do not make your timid character who is losing their virginity âsnarlâ â this is usually reserved for aggressive characters) Do they moan? Whimper? Breathe heavily?
 How loud are they?
Donât be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling!
Do your research. Ask people you know how they feel. (unless youâre like.. 12, because that would be weird, so donât). Watch porn, see how things work if you donât have experience yourself. (again, donât if youâre 12 â get off the smut topic, now, go, flee!). If you donât feel comfortable watching porn; go and read some fanfic! There are plenty of smut fanfics out there, ranging from Hermione/Snape to Hermionie/Bellatrix.
Saying this, most people know how the basic deed works so donât be afraid to use your imagination. Youâll be surprised just how dirty you are â hoe.
Warning: be careful as to which porn you watch and incorporate into your smut. Donât watch BDSM and write softcore.
Setting: wrong place, right time.
Remember to establish a location! Set the scene. Your character (unless theyâre some kind of exhibitionist) will not be fucking in the middle of a public shopping mall. That being said, it doesnât always have to take place on the bed; thereâs the couch, table tops, floors... If youâre up for fucking in public, just make sure that your characters are some place hidden! Toilets, back alleys etc.
Terminology. Yeah, I see you cringing in your seat.
The thing most of us struggle with isnât writing the smut, itâs defining the things weâre smutting with (imaginary penis, vagina, etc). In all honesty, there is no right or wrong word for you to use (although, a little tip: donât go overboard with the euphemisms, no one wants to touch your candy cane dick). It depends on how confident you feel and what words you feel fit into the specific smut. Again, question yourself! Is the scene raw? Quick? (In this case, dirtier words may be appropriate) similarly, if the scene is romantic some âsofterâ words may just do the trick. Though you can easily smut without having to mention these them at all, here are some words to make you feel uncomfortable:
Penis
Length
Member
Erection
Cock
Vagina
Clit
Inside her
Breasts
 Entrance
Note: there tend to be less words to describe the girlâs vagina; Iâm pretty sure thatâs because the guy is going inside of her (speaking straight sex). So, as a whole, itâs a lot easier to smut for girl characters because you can just write about the guy slipping inside. You donât have to talk about anything going inside him.. Unless youâre into that.
Women specific:
Women take a lot more graft to get turned on. Unfortunately, theyâre not as easy to turn on as men are. This can only mean one thing: foreplay! If youâre turning on a woman, donât be afraid to actually turn them on, this means: work at something other than shoving your fictional penis inside her.
Woman are more sensitive than men. Not emotionally (though that could be said, too) but parts of their body may be just as effective in stimulating them as the actual deed. There may also be parts of a womanâs body that are specific to your character â little things may turn them on. Here are a few of these: nipples, clit, vagina, neck kisses, thigh touching, just below the ear, ear nibbling, collar bone kissing.
Movements! Now remember, your character must move according to the pleasure theyâre receiving (letâs be honest, smutting with a potential dead body isnât exactly appealing). A woman may arch her back, curl her finger nails into the skin of the person theyâre interacting with, bite her lip, shake, tremble, thrust back, circle their hips, pull the person closer with their legs or hands.
Remember, virgins, there will be a brief moment of time where your character will be uncomfortable (so donât be afraid to mention this).
Climaxing: when a woman finally climaxes, itâs usually a feeling that works throughout her entire body â so write it that way! Her noises may intensify, she may convulse or tremble, tense her muscles, see stars, you know...
Male specific:
Donât be afraid to mention that your character is hard, in fact, itâs recommended that you do.
Similarly to girls, maleâs have their specific soft spots and certain acts which turn them on. Here are a few: head/tip of their cock, prostate, balls (aka scrotum, I just like the word balls). Some things that may turn a guy on: a woman biting her lip, eye contact, the sound of a girl moaning, certain movements, etc.
Movements! Men tend to trust a lot more than girlâs, they rock their hips, pin girlâs down, pull them closer, strive for dominance (or in some cases they play submissive), they may bite, kiss, cup breasts and (yes, at the same time as fucking her) stimulate the woman with his hand.
Remember to describe how the woman feels! Warm, wet, soft.. (this may also contribute to the overall pleasure your male character is feeling).
Donât be afraid to have the guy touch himself to keep himself hard; itâs normal!
Climaxing: when the guy comes, is he coming inside of the girl? Is he wearing protection? The feeling will probably âpool or fizzâ inside his stomach (donât take my word for it, this is what I got through research). Also, remember: donât drown the girl in jizz, he doesnât own a swimming pool of semen inside him.
What are people going to think about my smut?
Who knows? Who cares? I honestly couldnât tell you that. However, from personal experience, I know that Iâve never sat there and judged someone on their smut writing. Everyoneâs sexual perception is different. Letâs be honest, though, theyâre probably just as uncomfortable as you are. Donât shy away from smut! Itâs actually pretty easy to write once you overcome the initial awkward turtle phase. If you're so worried: find a Beta!
Aftermath
So the deed is done, you lost your smut virginity, now what? Iâll tell you what! You stick to your character and do the aforementioned act of questioning yourself. How would they react? Would they flee the scene? Would they be shy? Paranoid? Would they push the person away? Cuddle them closer? Keep to your character, soldier! Youâll be fine.
Whatever you do, donât get pissed if someone elseâs character is being bitchy. Itâs the character thatâs talking and not the person. (Unless itâs evident that the person is going ooc to attack you but thatâs another story.)
