Here goes another Spoken Word Poem. I actually wrote this for one of my classes as my Final Speech.
Hope you guys like it.
To The Girl That Ripped My Heart in a Million Pieces
You ripped my heart in a million pieces, but I still tried to give it back to you, hoping that you would put it back together
I thought I was a fortress, I thought that no one could ever break me. That i was indestructible and my walls were so high, that no one could ever reach me.
My walls were made out of failed relationships and fortified with the thought of never really knowing how it feels to actually love someone.
But you came in without notice and tore me down like you had the blueprint. You broke through the walls with a wrecking ball and took my heart like a thief in the night. It all happened in a blink of an eye.
You stole my heart, but I didnt resist Because I couldnt resist having someone as great as you, steal someone as mediocre as me
If anything you were the most beautiful thief that Ive ever seen
Your eyes showed me how to see life through a different lens Your lips told me to speak my mind and my heart Your hands fit perfectly with mine And your feet led me to places that I never though I would ever see
If I knew you were coming, I would’ve torn down the walls myself and waited at the gates with my heart on a silver platter.
When you took my heart, I have to admit I was kinda taken back. But the way you made me smile was something Ive never felt before
Me and you, we were like Bonnie and Clyde Minus the robbing banks and killing people But we were inseparable and we were a force to be reckoned with..
Well at least I thought we were
I tried so hard to be a part of your masterpiece, but I was nothing more than just part of the rough draft I was just residual paint left on the pallet that never made it on to the canvas
I heard love is all about give and take But while I was giving you my heart and soul, you were just taking it for granted
You played with my heart strings like it was a damn guitar Out of all the girls Ive met, you were probably the only one who really knew how to play it
You played chords that would speed up my heart beat until it sounded like a drum roll You played music so beautiful, For once, my mind was actually listening to my heart
The sad thing is, you didnt think my guitar was good enough So you put it down and walked away
But a part of me hopes that you turn back around and realize That my guitar was the best thing you have ever played
That my strings were perfectly tuned every single time you put your hands on them With every strum, my heart would skip a beat, but for some reason, We would never lose tempo
Trust me, if you choose my guitar, youll never want to play another one ever again.
Your kiss was like the sun touching my skin on a cool summer day Now, everyday is winter, and all it ever does is rain
Instead of the nice warm touch the sun used to give me, I get cold, rough tears run down my face
Every time I think of you my eyes start up a storm, and it never ends
But I still hope the storm will pass And one day, Ill get to feel that warm sun one more time
I know you have your hesitancies and insecurities But I swear that I will never hesitate in telling you how much you mean to me And I promise Ill secure my arms around you waist just to let you know youre safe
Lately, Ive been asking myself why I still try to give you the heart that you broke. Its probably because youre the only one who knows how to put it back together.
