"I wasn't doing much anyway, so it's nothing." Ace shrugs. She walked alongside Shiloh, staring at his hands and furrowed her brows. Maybe she should consider bringing bandaids around now. They would be helpful in a general sense.

Ace began to fidget with her fishnet gloves, getting lost in thought once again, her thoughts jumping all over the place. She was so distracted that she hadn't noticed that they arrived at Lynn's office. "Oh. We're here. Huh."

——— " So we are! Time sure flies. " Not that Shiloh was particularly doing much on the walk over to the nurse, other than humming to himself and letting Ace busy herself with whatever got her lost in her head.

A quick shout for Lynn later, Shiloh was taken in and got himself all disinfected and patched up. Which definitely didn't help with the stinging, but he'd live. Still, how dare the consequences of his own actions come to bite him.

——— " Hey Ace, check out what I got, " He grinned and raised up his hand to reveal... it being covered in cheesy Halloween themed bandaids. " Cool, right? "

Ace blinks a few times, her eyes looking at Shiloh, the bandaids, then back at Shiloh. Ace playfully rolled her eyes.

"You're so stupid."

Seeing Lynn was a good distance away, Ace's voice toned down to a whisper.

"Anyway, you free after this? I've got someone on my radar."

Just vague enough that the online world wouldn't get much more than that. They shouldn't. This was for Ace, not them. As much as he liked to use performances to make himself look good, this wasn't one of them. This was different.

He'd wanted to make things up to her, do something nice for her big day, but how do you really, truly tell someone you care about them when you were Shiloh Fields? He knew how to pretend. It was so easy when he didn't care.

That was the issue. Something perfect would look fake. And still, he found himself aiming for the version of himself that'd best convey what he wanted. Which was not the point.

...Waiting for her in a little gift bag would be some guitar picks he hoped she'd think were cool and a dumb little handwritten coupon. Dorky hats drawn on like some sort of stamp rewards card. Five free favors. How generous. Anything within his capabilities. Transactional. Plausible deniability. Because how else would he say out loud that he'd do it anyway even without some stupid slip of paper if it was her?

He figured she needed a tangible reminder though. A 'don't forget you aren't a pawn to me'. A 'thanks for putting up with me'. A 'you are cared about, I am thinking of you'. A 'don't forget this about us again'.

All the things he'd never say in words, not really. Not unless he was acting.

I dread my 18th. I don't want to get my hopes up. But... What if?

I just want some acknowledgement from them. I don't want any gifts. I just need mother or even father to just. Greet me on time. Say they're proud. Anything. Please.

Father called today. At least he took the time to. He told me that mother said belated new years. It's the end of January.

He also asked if I liked their late Christmas gift. They got me Pointe shoes. I quit ballet years ago. They know this.

I hate that the gnome showed me a reality where I wasn't ditched. They called daily. Why couldn't that happen here? I would be lucky to get a call once a month.

It's still my grades isn't it? I can never be the best they need.

But... Then again, the other one didn't seem to have the best grades either. Not by my parents standards.

So what am I missing?

Janiya was being so totally very sneaky, glancing at Ace from across the cafeteria like a deer in headlights every now and then. Just... go over there and say hi, right? Not hard at all! ...Janiya was frozen in her seat for the past ten minutes. But it really shouldn't be hard in theory! She didn't know the other girl well, but from what Leon said, she seemed nice...! Hopefully! Maybe!

Mentally kicking herself, she got up-- And balling up a napkin she hadn't even used yet, she figured she might as well use that as an excuse to go over there. Because obviously she couldn't just walk across the room for no reason or just because she wanted to, that'd be so weird! Yep! Just walking to the farthest possible trash can on the other side of the room despite there being one she was sitting beside just now! The least suspicious line of reasoning ever that she totally didn't realize halfway through her trek, resulting in her wanting to melt into the floor but then she decided not to do a 180 and give up because that'd just be even more mortifying if she was already walking this way.

'Trash' dropped into the can, she veered towards Ace's table and slowly raised a hand in greeting, " ...Oh, um, hi there...! W... Wow, funny bumping into you... How... are you....??" ...Those were things normal social people said to other normal people, right?? Someone shoot her.

Ace looked Janiya up and down. She could see that she was... Unbelievably pathetic. And has a pretty face. Perfect. Just what she was into.

"Well, I'm doing amazing now that you're here. I'm just flattered that a beauty like you bumped into someone like me."

Then she pretended to look around the table she was sitting at and shrugged. "I'm afraid that there aren't seats available. My laps free if you're willing to take it though." Ace smirked.

However, if Janiya just looked, she would be able to see that there was an available seat. It was just being taken up by Ace's bag.

It was obvious.

This was just a plot to get Janiya onto her lap.

Sure, Ace was being too forward and could potentially scare Janiya away, but that was the fun of it. You know what they say, you've got to risk it for the biscuit. Besides, it's Janiya's loss if she couldn't handle her charm.
