“It’s actually just down the road and across the street from here.” He said with a little nod, “oh yeah my boss does the same. Can’t be too careful.” He nodded again, thanking the man for the drink before taking a swig.

“I’ll check it out. I’ve been meaning to get a new tattoo. Kinda depressing that we have to be, but that’s life.”

“Well definitely come by then.” He said with a grin, nodding again as he took a drink again. “It is really sad. We shouldn’t have to live on the defense.”

“Yeah I know what you mean, I work in this tattoo parlor and it’s not in the safest place in town. So yanno you hear gun shots and ya run to lock the door.” He said with a little chuckle. “Oh and a vodka soda please.”

“Nice, tell me where it’s at and I might check it out. When I worked in Mexico, I kept a gun behind the bar counter because you never knew who would walk in and start a fight. I hear it’s gotten a lot calmer since I left. Got it.” He said, going to get his drink and coming back to place it in front of him.

“That’s fair. I’m used to the traffic, but I work at dingy bar so I hear what sounds like a gun and I duck for cover.”

“Someone keeps popping fireworks outside. New Years was yesterday, asshole. Or maybe those are gunshots… I don’t care enough to check. Anyways, what do you want to drink?”

“Probably eggs on toast if I’m honest. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.”

Did you have a Good Christmas?

“Yes! Had a great time with Ro it was lovely. We have a tree up and everything. First time I’ve celebrated in years..”

Ace smiled a tad and helped wipe away the tears on Roland’s face. “Yeah movie night sounds nice..we can just relax and cuddle and not worry about anything.” He smiled, pressing a kiss to Ro’s temple. Ace missed spending days with his fiancé, misssd spending nights with him even more. He rarely saw him, always feeling like he was intruding if he went into Roland’s studio. Sure he had that little desk in there if he wanted to write but Ace hadnt written a word in weeks. It didn’t help that he was hiding the fact that he had multiply depressive episodes in the last few weeks, but he didn’t want to make Roland worry.

Roland nuzzled his face into Ace’s neck, deep breaths of his sent though mostly mixing with the alcoholic scent of his own breath. “I j-just want t-to make us e-enough money.” He just wanted to make an okay living, survive and keep being able to afford the nice things they had. He liked eating out, buying expensive art things without feeling worried i money was too tight. “I s-sorry I w-work too m-much.” He licked his lips guiltily. “I j-just want t-to make enough f-for us, s-so you don’t have t-to rush your wr-writing.”

“You do make enough money sweetheart.” He said softly, running his hands through Roland hair. “It’s okay, I don’t mind that you work a lot. I love you, okay? And I love your art so much. I want you to work as much as you need to but sometimes I just wish I could have some time with you...but I’ll manage I’ll be okay...” he chewed his lip a little. “Maybe if you can manage to come to bed at night? I know you get tired working so much and fall asleep in your studio, but it would be nice if you came to bed..that way I can have time with you and you can still work.”
