When Ace got home from work, his dad handed him two letters. One was from UCLA, and the other was from UC Berkeley. As soon as the letters were handed to him, before even taking his shoes off and putting down his backpack, he tore both letters open. He skimmed one letter after the other and saw nearly identical words on both papers: 

“Congratulations, you have been accepted...”

He started grinning from ear-to-ear. He was accepted into the graduate architecture program at both UCLA and UC Berkeley. Tao saw the look on Ace’s face and immediately went in for a hug. After the excitement set in, however, he realized that he would need to make a difficult decision. Which school was he going to attend? He locked himself in his room as he went back and forth on the issue. He grabbed a pen and paper and made a chart for himself comparing the two universities. 

He had heard great things about UCLA’s architecture program from Trixie, but he knew first-hand that Berkeley’s architecture program was also great. Driving to UCLA would be relatively easy given where he currently lived, but he knew his sister would be willing to let him live with her again; alternatively, he could move out and get an apartment of his own. He had a job, friends, and family in Santa Monica, but he had friends and family in San Francisco too and could always find a different job. 

After writing all of the pros and cons out, and pacing around his room for a solid hour, Ace came to a conclusion. Even though he liked the life he had made for himself in Santa Monica, his heart still belonged in San Francisco. And with that realization, he made up his mind. All he had to do now was get his affairs in order.

“Perfect! I can’t wait to watch it later,” she grinned glancing at her phone as the message came through. It made her more motivated to start working on her next project, to share the stories of people in Santa Monica. “Oh, of course. So I’ve got Cashapp, Venmo, Paypal, or I can do cash or a check. I mean, I don’t have cash on me right this second but there is an atm around the corner so whatever works best for you.” 

“Really?” he asked, a blush starting to form on his cheeks. Ace started making these videos as a way of promoting his art, but it soon transformed into a way for him to share his experiences. He was still getting used to people watching his content and seeing all of his vulnerabilities out in the open. “Either Venmo or Paypal work for me. I don’t have Cashapp. I should probably look into it though.” He did most of his transactions online, and used Paypal the most often. “My username on both is AsaBWong. Asa is my legal first name, by the way.” He had a habit of only telling people his nickname to the point where they got confused when he told them what it actually stood for.

But the thing I will never admit to anyone who's met me is how desperately I want to be loved, I don't think I could say it. How I want someone to hold my wrists and kiss my palms and smile at me, and want me, I want to be wanted and I don't know how long poetry or songs will substitute for being wanted.
