Simplifying.
Hello! It’s AC!
Having been on a social media break since the beginning of November, I thought it would be good to come back and make a post at least acknowledging what’s going on.
Everything is as fine as it can be at the moment. I haven’t been feeling like myself, but I’m safe and still writing and creating stuff on my own terms. I think I just need to take some time to come away and feel better, rather than yo-yoing in and out, making stupid excuses. I’d be lying if I said that I thought tumblr wasn’t a source of stress... but so is my real-person facebook and work and life and family and so on. Disconnecting from tumblr is just one change. I suppose the biggest difference has been seeing a doctor. It’s a work in progress, but I’m slowly sorting through everything, because being sad and anxious all the time... it isn’t for me. I tried it, guys, I gave this whole anxiety thing a really good go, but I’ve decided that it’s not working and just generally is very lame and uncool. It’s not who I am, so it’s got to go.
I just wanted to say thanks very much to the people who have kept me going this year - it’s been an exciting journey, writing alongside you guys! Wensergutted has been a crazy, rollercoaster dream. So much has happened since I joined the community and decided to try to document what it’s like to create a novel. I’ve grown a lot. Read a lot. Collaborated a lot. Made a lot of new friends. Lost friends. Lost family. Life is very different now to when I started, which makes me think it’s kind of like a new era coming in. It’s also my birthday early next month, and it’s not an exciting number or anything and I think I’m the only one hyped up about it, but it still feels shiny and fresh.
I STILL love to write and I STILL write nearly every day. Writing on my own and for myself is a kind of therapy for me. I just believe that everything that comes with running a small, personal blog on tumblr, the pressure of this platform, isn’t working for me right now. (I’m not attempting to make any particular point about tumblr or anyone who uses it - this is just how it’s making me feel. I have a suspicion that there are some friends on here who also feel this way from time to time! And that’s okay. The internet can do that.)
I can’t say when I’ll be back. But what I can do is wish you guys all the luck and creativity in the world, and I hope you find every success with your art and your writing in the near future. Hot damn.
