Sia - Cheap Thrills (Lyric Video) featuring Sean Paul
Re: my Sia post from a few weeks back
This is probably my favorite song right now, although tbh I don’t listen to much current radio now since I don’t DJ anymore.
I like the album version of this song more because it doesn’t have Sean Paul (it's not 2005 anymore), but this video is hella creative; especially for a lyric video.

I was kinda familiar with the singer Sia, but didn't really know much about her except that she would always hide her face in public and that she had a really nice voice. She'd had a few songs I'd heard, that song with Flo Rida (Wild Ones), and the one from the David Guetta album (Titanium), but I only had a vague familiarity with a few of her others, such as Breathe Me and Chandelier. But to be honest, I just thought she was that weird lady who would wear that wig that hid her face. James Corden does that popular segment on his show called "Carpool Karoake," and I really enjoyed the Adele one. Doing some searches of the other segments he'd done with other artists I figured that I'd give the Sia one a chance. She explained the reason for hiding her face, and her and James sang a few of her songs. I enjoyed her personality and the way she sang. I figured I would give her music a chance so I signed up for a trial with the TIDAL music service to listen to a good portion of her catalog. I was very surprised how much I liked her music, and the themes of some of her songs, like empowerment, courage and perseverance; in addition to the songs that were meant for the clubs. Anyhow, I was driving yesterday and as I was listening to "Titanium" I actually started tearing up because the lyrics really got to me. I was surprised that her music was having such an effect on me, as I couldn't remember if that had ever happened to me before with other music. Sometimes you don't know what you'll find unless you're willing to take a chance on something, and I'm glad I did.

I miss the person I used to be. I know he's around here somewhere. I hope I can find him.
Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.

We did not ask for this room or this music. We were invited in. Therefore, because the dark surrounds us, let us turn our faces to the light. Let us endure hardship to be grateful for plenty.
We have been given pain to be astounded by joy. We have been given life to deny death. We did not ask for this room or this music. But because we are here, let us dance.
