helena, born a name that is long lost to time by now, grew up in many foster families around new york. she learnt very quick on how to get what she needed, assuming of forging the identities of other people to do anything from drinking, or to gain access into spaces she needn't be. with each identity, she refined her skills. her wide doe eyes were her first tactic as a child to get what she needed, but helena always wanted more. the desire to survive came at whatever cost. as an adult fresh out of the system she had countless fake id's, backstories, and wigs that followed her to each con. once caught out, she'd vanish and assume a new life of whoever she deemed could help her survive. 'helena' is certainly her longest sham identity, assuming the identity of her past dead-ringer of a foster sister. rather unfortunate, the real girl's death... a house fire the fake helena accidentally set in her final placement home. she never intended for the sweet girl to lose her life, nor planned to take her identity. but upon realising the girls birth parents, seemingly wealthy, eventually came to find their girl they hadn't seen since birth... what was the fake helena to do when such an opportunity fell in her lap? let's just hopes contingency or the cops find out what she'd done... or where the body is.

her ability to acquire information made her perfect as a pi, however the only people that would somewhat accept her less than conventional methods were below ground.

An air of familiar amusement had settled over the apartment with Hell’s recent move in, something she could only compare to parting clouds on rainy days. "Was it two flat on the same side?" One hand lifted to accompany the question, tilting conspicuously to one side in a visual representation of the image taking shape in her head. "urban legend." helena shakes her head, cutting into her stack of pancakes with her knife and fork. she would know, she'd slashed a lot of peoples tires in her lifetime. "insurance covers it." the flesh on her nose skews in her displeasure, she'd probably do it more often if it didn't mean every ex partner she hated wouldn't get a nice new set of tires thanks to her. "better to key cars, they still have to pay excess and likely have to drive it around for a while." she'd taken some creative liberties in what she'd scribed on peoples bonnets and doors over her lifetime. "needs more syrup." hell points down to the pancakes, changing the subject on a whim as if she wasn't just pondering the best way to ruin someones car a moment ago. but gianna should be used to that by now. "wanna be my honey pot friday night?" hell leans forward on the countertop, resting on her elbows, matching the glint in gianna's eye. The Contingency's co-leader was solely responsible for Nico's current withdrawal from that organisation. Not that he had voiced as much, to anyone. His current stance, however, had not touched his communication with Helena, no, not when she had capabilities to undercover what he wanted to know. There was also that small fact of she still owed him, as he did her and if Nico was one thing, it was true to his word. So before the woman across from him had taken her seat, a partial transfer had already been wired into her account.

The mention of Pearson came as no surprise, not when he had recently uncovered Katherine's name and her connection to Dominic Cahill. The woman that had fed the Reapers member intel the night of the fires that held linking responsibility for the death of his brother. The binder that opened had his gaze drop toward the content, eyes scanning the page briefly, "Why am I not surprised." he returned. Pearson seemingly being the middleman between two substantial hits - the fires, as well as ADA Grayson, somehow if he thought about it, made sense. It really was the ones hiding in plain sight. "Do you know if she knows who she was brokering for?"

helena didn't know why nico was so interested in this case, not that she really cared to ask. her desire for information was only overpowered by her survival instincts. she didn't get in the way of mob, or go anywhere she need not be if it meant her neck was on the line. self preservation was always the end game in hell's life. she watches the man lean over to inspect the page, watching the hint of familiarity in his eyes as she mentions pearson's name. then came the million dollar question, the real reason the binder on his desk took at least two hands to hold. she leans over again to flick at the pages until she found a red paper tab, featuring a large zoomed in photo of the man himself — marco caruso. "greyson was weeks away from exposing caruso for embezzlement that paid for his campaign — his veneers too." they looked rather tacky on the campaign pictures, hell ponders. "the bank transfers are all there." hell sits back down in the seat in front of nico. her fingers followed the curves of carved wood that screamed exorbitant wealth. "what can i say, my standards are higher now." hell likes bars like this, she gets the engrossment she searches for. not for people wanting her, hell had enough confidence in herself to need that ( arguably, maybe too much to the level people called her cocky ), but the free alcohol. enjoy herself without paying a cent. she grew up with fake id's to get into new york's best night clubs earlier than she legally could. the desire for more was always going to be there in her life. "that pretty pearson isn't so squeaky clean." helena drops the file binder on the desk. it probably looks a little thicker than what nico usually see's from her. but this was harder to condense the more she found. she was a con artist at heart, but with the money nico was spending on effort she would honour such with a higher level of dedication. maybe there was some honour among thieves, or maybe hell just liked the idea of consistent paycheck of mob money. she opens the first page, pointing to the name 'katherine pearson' highlighted in yellow with her pointed red nails. "there's your link." she'd theorised the man convinced was a desperate attempt by the DA's office to put someone behind bars before it got out of control with the media. now she had the proof of pearson and caruso plotting, she just needed to find out why grayson became a target. "she brokered the whole thing."

No matter if café owner or now, whether her own creations were nice or simply favored, every now and then the brunette found herself in other places, combining meetings and other types with letting herself have a treat. Especially after a day of moving about, of taking care of vendors and other things, after having just said goodbye to a client who'd wanted to discuss something regarding a wedding cake, Hande found herself craving a break. More than anything. Even if the place was fuller, the attention of all divided by their own chatter. It allowed her to be in her own world.

Until a shadow fell over her, pulled her from her thoughts. The words slipped out before she could think. Old habit. "Were you looking for a place to sit? You're more than welcome to take the chair. Or join. Whatever works best for you." Her kindness at times seemed to be an odd factor within places, on the paths she walked on but she wouldn't have had it any other way.

helena's tired, she spent the entire night awake staring through binoculars, enough she could feel the strain in her eyes the next morning. set on food, she slips into the first bakery she can find within a kilometre radius of home. anything to soak up the coffee she's been living on for the last 24 hours. without any intention to be social, the call from the stranger comes unwelcome. but she smiles, it's not her natural instinct, but she'd rather play pretend and take the offer for a seat. "thank you — you sure i'm not interrupting your morning?"

"and of course shit-for-brains over there wasn't listening to a word i said." hell throws her hands in the hair with a lazy cross of her legs, perches on the kitchen stool. it's quite a quaint scene in the girls' home, you'd think it was projected out of some feel good roommate sitcom from the 2000's as hell pokes her fork into the pancakes gianna had made. but a closer look into conversation would break such a veneer. it's probably not wise to break client confidentiality, if hell even cared about such a thing. "he went home with two flat tires." she covers her mouth as she speaks, chewing away at her food, "completely unnecessary to the job — i just didn't like him."
